As we approach the end of 2024, the Cardano ecosystem continues to evolve, with the Civics Committee playing a pivotal role in shaping our governance landscape. Today, I’d like to share some exciting developments that underscore Cardano’s commitment to decentralized, community-driven governance.
Global Engagement in Action
The Civics Committee has been hard at work, supporting an impressive 63 workshops across 50 countries. These workshops serve as vital touchpoints for gathering feedback on the Draft Constitution, ensuring that voices from all corners of the Cardano community are heard.
In July, we witnessed a significant milestone with the Constitution Draft-a-thon in Longmont, Colorado. This event brought together key stakeholders to refine constitutional details, marking a crucial step in our governance journey.
Democracy in Motion
Currently, we’re in the midst of a pivotal election for the Civics Committee. Four out of nine voting member seats are up for grabs, with 18 candidates stepping forward. This robust participation reflects the growing engagement within our community. Voting opened on October 4th and will continue until October 18th.
For those interested in participating or learning more about the candidates, I encourage you to visit the official Intersect election page on the Intersect Knowledge Base.
Looking Ahead: Key Initiatives
Several exciting initiatives are on the horizon:
- Constitutional Convention: Scheduled for December 2024, this event promises to be a defining moment in Cardano’s governance evolution.
- New Constitution Submission: Following the convention, the Constitution Ratification Working Group aims to submit the “New Constitution” as an on-chain governance action.
- 2025 Governance Budget: The committee is finalizing its recommendations for the 2025 Cardano governance budget, a crucial step in ensuring our ecosystem’s continued development.
Your Role in Cardano’s Future
