Hi everyone,
We’re a tiny SPO - WOMEN
. We know our stake is paltry at ~167k so we (sadly) don’t expect blocks every epoch yet it’s been four and a half months since we minted a block. I believe everything is in order but am still worried and would appreciate more wisdom around what else we might have missed.
- Running the latest binaries
10.1.3
- KES rotated,
query kes-period-info
shows two ticks
qKesNodeStateOperationalCertificateNumber
is at 15 while qKesOnDiskOperationalCertificateNumber
is at 16 + our last block minted was at #15
- Relays and block gen are up-to-date on sync within ~1.5 seconds of the blockchain
- No errors aside from some removed peer connections on the relays
What are we missing? aside from a few million of stake
Thanks all!
T
The most likely answer here : you have bad luck
Your chance to get a block assgined with that amount of stake is about ~14%, which also means you could theoretically get no blocks assigned for 4 months straight.

Are you regularly checking the leader logs if you are supposed to mint a block?
Thanks both. Not regularly checking as it’s mainly a source of further disappointment.
Was just looking for any pointers we might have missed during the various upgrades, rotations etc.
I know it’s statistically possible but it seems very close to beyond that.

That’s too bad. It would give hints if you were even supposed to get a block and there are problems with your setup minting and distributing it or if you “just” have bad luck.
Also, checking the leader logs on every epoch is good practice to know when you should avoid to tinker with the nodes in any case because they have to be online to produce a block.

I know it is disheartening, but you need to check each epoch, in case you are allocated a block and you miss it!
Understood, and much appreciated!
My main problem is we’re so close to resource constraints, even the extra swap could break things. If only there was an API to get the heavy data…
