Cross Chain Events & Workshops

Huhuuu :slightly_smiling_face:
Hey, Yoram Nori & me currently working with some of our equals in Polkadot on setting up cross chain event/workshops, starting with Cardano & Polkadot. Main idea is to have a “no-pitching & no bitching” workshop format with not many but with the right people (~25 ppl). Mainly looking to invite longterm community members as well as folks from our foundations…

The main idea is to ideate, organise, execute and report the event with engaged community members from both ecosystems as well as to fund the event through proposals which we plan to submit in Cardano with Catalyst F13 and in Polkadot via OpenGov.

The first event will serve as a pilot-event to battleproof our concept, from there, we will generate a open source playbook, enabling anyone to apply gained knowledge to their own use. Ideally, this format will help to push against tribalism & silo-working, establishing a standard where it has become normal to work with each other across different blockchain ecosystems.

What are your thoughts on that, and… what would be needed to convince you to vote for such a proposal XD ?

Sounds like a cool idea.

To be honest with you, there are alot of such “try and error” proposals and thats totally fine. But when they ask for an absurd amount of funds for their initial try, im getting red flag vibes.

So in order to get my voting power for a proposal like that, you probably would have to ask for a low amount of ADA in the first round and once you proofed that you concept works and Cardano benefits of that collab, you could ask for more.

But of course thats just my opinion.

much agree on that, i think that many “crypto-conferences” are quite a bit overhyped and over-expensive… would tend much more into a direction of a non-fancy setup, not spending much but spending well.

Looking on some venues this weekend to get a concrete price idea… think something like this seems very realistic

  • Sleeping Rooms: 2625
  • Seminar Room: 526.5
  • Food: 5382
  • Travel Costs: 7500
    Total: 16033.5 USD

At a rate of 0.35 Ada/usd = 45810 Ada
