Reminder to participate in the CIP-1694 Temperature Check

Since December 1, community members have been able to participate in the CIP-1694 Temperature Check by submitting their ballots—an event spanning two full epochs. The Ballot is set to conclude at the end of epoch 453 on December 11 at 21:44 UTC, with the results slated for announcement on December 16.

In response to the absence of hardware wallet support, the community has once again demonstrated its problem-solving capabilities. Teams from the Summon Platform and DripDropz collaborated to launch an additional CIP-1694 temperature check.

This community-driven initiative reflects the ecosystem’s ability to address challenges collectively. Rather than relying solely on genesis entities (Cardano Foundation, EMURGO, and IOG) for solutions, the community has taken a proactive role.

Don’t forget to cast your vote before before December 11th, 21:44 UTC

Cardano Ballot Open-Source: Developers Welcome for Front-End Solutions.

The Cardano Foundation recently announced the open sourcing of the Cardano Ballot, a hybrid voting system that combines on-chain and off-chain elements. Among the latest updates, stake-based voting for CIP-1694 temperature checks and the integration of Hydra and Aiken Smart Contracts were introduced.

Cardano Ballot is not a white-label solution; it provides backend services, inviting frontend developers to create interfaces based on example projects. With this, the Cardano Foundation aims to complement community projects rather than compete with them.

Announcing the Identity Wallet Release by the Cardano Foundation

The Cardano Foundation is introducing the Identity Wallet, a new open-source application developed in-house. This project reflects our ongoing efforts in research and development, focusing on Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI), Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs), Self-Certifying Identifiers (SCIs), Verifiable Credentials, Verifiable Data Registries (VDRs), and industry standards within the Cardano ecosystem and beyond.

In its initial release, the Identity Wallet serves as an open-source reference implementation, demonstrating the integration of W3C Decentralized Identifiers, Verifiable Credentials, and Key Event Receipt Infrastructure (KERI) tailored for the Cardano platform.

For those interested in exploring the app without the need for building, you can access the Identity Wallet demo from your mobile device using this link: Identity Wallet Demo.

Additionally, for those wanting to experiment with example credentials, here is the link to the Identity Wallet Credential Issuance Web Interface: Identity Wallet Credential Issuance Web Interface. Feel free to explore at your own pace.

Official Cardano Summit NFT Collection from Empowa

For the second consecutive year, the Cardano Foundation has selected Empowa, a community project, to mint and present the official Cardano Summit NFT Collection, highlighting the fusion of technology with positive impact. This year’s collection, centered around the theme “Blockchain for Social Impact,” is now open for minting.

The 2023 Summit collection includes 30 distinct digital collectibles representing six global regions—Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America, and South America—alongside the five phases of the Cardano protocol—Byron, Shelley, Goguen, Basho, and Voltaire. NFTs are bundled in sets of five, allowing for the possibility of obtaining duplicates in each pack. The proceeds from the NFT sales will contribute to constructing affordable, climate-resilient homes in Africa. NMKR facilitates the minting of NFTs while generously waiving all transaction costs, ensuring maximum support for the charitable cause. Catalyst Proposals

Below you will discover a selection of Catalyst proposals originating from various community members, which have piqued our interest. Please note that by featuring these proposals in our Community Digest, we are not expressing explicit support for any single proposal. We strongly encourage each voter to conduct their own due diligence before making any voting decisions.

Proposal #1: Stakepool Uptime Monitoring and Health-Check Portal

Stakepools are the Backbone of the Cardano-Network. The quality & maintenance of the Servers the Stakepools are running on matters a lot. Normally, Servers sometimes have Hardware and/or Software issues, which need to be fixed immediately. Otherwise, the overall quality/performance of our Blockchain-Network goes down to the point where it is not running correctly anymore. Professional monitoring helps SPOs to know when a Server has an issue that needs to be fixed. Monitoring can be complicated and expensive, therefore we have a lot of Stakepools without proper Monitoring. Which hurts our Network and can lead to delegators/investors losing rewards. This Project provides a professional and easy-to-use monitoring solution to ensure SPOs are informed and can act before it is too late. Read More

Proposal #2: Cardano Warriors Adventure: Early Access Launch in Epic Games Store And Gamified P2P (Multisig)

Since the early days post-Mary hardfork, we’ve dedicated ourselves to building crucial components, laying the foundation for our current progress. While we yearned for more focus on the game itself, every moment was vital in shaping a robust base for our project. Our goal is clear: craft an engaging game and present it to over 200 million users from Epic Games Store. Alongside this, we aim to integrate features like P2P multisig, and enhancing the gaming experience. Our mission is to bridge the gap between blockchain and mainstream gaming. Traditional gamers often overlook blockchain games, and we’re set to change that. We aim to boost Cardano adoption to a wider gaming audience. Read More

Proposal #3: [nftcdn.io] Universal NFT Viewer API (Music+Video+Web+3D+…)

Today NFTs are mainly images, but they can be much more: movies, songs, 3D models, interactive art, important documents and so on. However, integrating and serving them on a product’s platform requires a lot of work and is very expensive, and so NFTCDN is proposing to make a “Universal NFT Viewer API” endpoint to make it quick, easy and cost-effective to display any kind of NFT. NFTCDN has served over half a billion optimised NFT images and metadata requests since launching in December 2022 and the proposal now aims to enable broader use cases, fuelling innovation and growth on Cardano and making it more appealing for developers and consumers from a diverse range of application and industry backgrounds to use Cardano as the blockchain of choice for NFTs.
