I trade BTC/ADA on the Bittrex exchange. Bittrex also has an option to trade ETH/ADA.

I absolutely suggest Bittrex over Coinbase. Here are a few links: https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/coinbase-shutdown-cad-services-canadian-customers/, https://techcrunch.com/2017/11/29/coinbase-internal-revenue-service-taxation/.

You should also get yourself a reputable and secure wallet to store your crypto, off the exchange. Do your research. Google reviews, talk to other users, read, read, read. Check out the Daedalus wallet for storing your ADA.

Since you’ll have to buy BTC or ETH in order to buy ADA, you should compare a few things between exchanges:

Price and commission

GDAX (owned by Coinbase):
No commission on maker orders (limit buys/sells)
No fee to send BTC to another BTC wallet (not sure about ETH since I didn’t look at that)

Binance:
0.1% commission on all trades
1 ADA to withdraw

Bittrex:
0.3% commission on all trades
0.2 ADA to withdraw

If your plan is to do a long hold, make sure you compare BTC and ETH prices on those exchanges and compare them to the commission fees if you’re buying a lot. I wasn’t sure if you were referring to buying 10,000 ETH coins ($4.5 million USD) or buying $10,000 USD worth. If it’s the former, the difference between the commission rates can translate into $4500 USD (0.1% fee) or $13,500 USD (0.3% fee).
