I understand your point regarding maintaining the existing procedure until we are closer to the final product. There are a couple of things about the current situation. Proxying voting to a trusted party happens in most every business every day of the year, nothing unusual there. IOG maintaining the total control of all decisions is a different issue. I can understand the process in which the founders were consolidated into this structure. As decentralization is such a necessary component of trust and belief in the project I know it was not an optimal solution. My guess is that IOG will be happier having not to have the ultimate say in the end. There are times when decisions need to be universally approved of. I dont think they would have brought this up now if they didn’t believe it was in everyone best interest. Verification of all aspects of governance of the addition of a layer of checks and balances in the system is the next logical step to proceed. We have a dedicated community brimming with expertise to choose a team of validators from. Owners in the stake pools and developers available that all have skin in the game and a desire to see this succeed. I am more than satisfied that a group to add a layer of oversight will be a vast upgrade in network safety and project detail.
There hasn’t been a vote yet on any ‘contract renewal’. IOG is still building things from the original contract.
Does anybody know where the “original contract” is?
I admit I’m not 100% sure I remember correctly, but I think the target date for the mandate renewal has already passed (without any clear statement on an extension or current status afaik).

Im not 100% sure either but as far as i know there was those 5 phases, byron, shelley, goguen, basho and voltaire.
Im pretty sure that all of those phases has to be finished or atleast having a functional product. I think decentralized governance system (Voltaire) is still missed yet.
My memory is that it was for 5 years. But I don’t remember since when.
Maybe someone else remembers better…
Yeah i have something similar in my head. Id say they are paying from their own pocket since somewhen in 2020 but im not 100% sure about that. I will try to get the offical information in that regards.

Simply stated, the lack of transparency by one Charles Hoskinson is at least shameful. We are dealing with a man who is very far from flippant, a man who fits every action into a mathematical formulation which will never sacrifice his end use.
There is an old saying that,“you can’t con an old con.” Well I am that old con and I have a very sensitive antenna. There is simply too much obstruction for any of this to be accidental. It takes guts to admit that you are being ‘played’ but that is our situation.
If we do not step forward now I fear for Cardano. I fear because we suffer daily at the hands of the systems that surround us. I pray that Cardano is a better way and that it is our way.
