Linux Installation fails

When trying to install the linux binary (file was made executable by chmod +x) I get the following error: /home/xyz/.cache/tmpx-2979a896acc5a123/dat/nix): Permission denied
Does anyone have an idea what could be the cause for that? In my understanding it’s the installer-binary itself that creates said directory.

Thanks

Update:
-Created a new user (no previous beta installation)
-Downloaded the installer file
-Used the bash command as described not chmod +x and sudo./… as previously and low and behold the installation went without problems and the programm is synching as it should.
Well done IOHK!
