New Forum AI Search – Get Better, Smarter Results!

Hello everyone! Now that AI Search has been a part of our forum experience for more than six months, it’s nice to explore this issue. The community has had enough time to truly understand how it operates.

This application makes the extensive knowledge on this forum more accessible and is an excellent example of applying AI for information retrieval. Comparing this to other AI experiments in the ecosystem, such as the workshop IOG conducted during RareEvo, is intriguing. For those who missed it, here is a resume and analysis of the workshop [forum post by @ChrisCata], and you can locate the full workshop videos here.

That session highlights two different uses for AI in governance, which is why I bring it up. While the workshop tool was an experiment in forming an ongoing discourse, the forum search aids in our understanding of what has already been said. This disparity highlights a key issue that was later discussed on the forum post: how to “fine the balance between AI efficiency and human deliberation.”

Finding methods for these technologies to “complement, rather than replace, organic dialogue.” appears to be the ultimate objective. I’d want to continue the discussion with a few open-ended questions for everyone, keeping in mind the larger context:

  1. What do you think of the AI Search now that we’ve had it for a time, and how do you utilize it?
  2. What other AI tools might be useful for our governance and budget process in the future, in your opinion?
  3. Are there any other intriguing AI integrations being planned or investigated by the team and the larger community?

These are just open questions to hear everyone’s thoughts. These initial steps are fantastic, and I’m interested to know what the community thinks we should do next.
