i am following this guide: Guide: How to build a Cardano Stake Pool - CoinCashew

its asking me to run a script that publishes my relay node information. just wanted to double check and see if this step is still necessary? also, if anyone here could so kindly explain what exactly this is doing and why that would be a great help.

Yep, you’ll need to run the topology updater to update your relay topology so you can connect to other nodes and that other nodes “know” about your node too. Otherwise you won’t be getting any transactions into your relay and then block producer to process.
