Recap: DRep Cardano Training - DRep Pioneer Program - Course #3 - Offline

As announced in the Forum post and Meetup, on July 14, 2024, we successfully conducted the third course of the DRep Cardano Training - DRep Pioneer Program, with the participation of 12 enthusiastic community members.

We delved into topics such as Cardano on-chain governance design, CIP1694, the role of DReps, the DRep code of conduct, reward mechanisms, support tools, and how to create a DRep ID on Sanchonet Govtool. The session included many valuable group discussion activities where members actively shared detailed and insightful perspectives.

Notably, some participants traveled long distances (2 to 7 hours by motorbike) from outside Ho Chi Minh City to attend. This dedication underscores the Vietnamese community’s deep interest in Cardano’s development during the Voltaire era and their desire to contribute to decentralized governance as DReps.

The course began with impressive self-introductions, fostering stronger connections for the upcoming discussions and filling the morning with energy.

We kicked off the day with a challenging minigame to exercise our brains. Everyone worked diligently on quizzes about key course terms, and we recognized three outstanding members who completed the quiz quickly and accurately.

Together, we explored decentralized governance on Cardano and the CIP1694 voting mechanism. The engagement was high, with attentive listening, active questioning, and enthusiastic participation in discussions. Many questions focused on DRep authorization, the role of the Constitutional Committee in Voltaire governance, and the participation of SPOs in governance voting actions.

We practiced voting according to the CIP1694 model, with representatives from the SPO, ADA holders, DReps, and CC groups performing their voting roles and presenting their reasons for voting Yes, No, or Abstain. This activity helped participants understand the voting process and the responsibilities of each administrative role. DReps were particularly adept at persuading ADA holders to entrust them with their votes.

Networking and exchange activities created a dynamic and collaborative environment. Participants brought unique perspectives and experiences from various locations, all united by a common passion for contributing to the Cardano ecosystem. These interactions sparked insightful discussions on advancing Cardano’s decentralized governance and technological development. The enthusiasm and commitment were truly inspiring.

We explored the reward mechanism for DReps, proposing ideas to reward based on ability and enthusiasm. Future DReps debated ways to increase motivation for both DReps and ADA holders to participate in voting on Cardano.

Everyone attentively studied the DRep Code of Conduct.

It was a meaningful and enjoyable day of learning, filled with valuable knowledge and cherished memories. There was palpable excitement as we embraced the Voltaire era, ready to take on new roles and responsibilities. Thank you so much to Intersect, the Cardano community, and everyone involved.

We left with a wealth of useful knowledge and meaningful experiences. The training not only enhanced our understanding of DRep and equipped us with essential skills, but it also strengthened bonds among members and spread positive energy throughout the community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Intersect and Cardano for providing us with this pioneering opportunity. We will strive to enhance the quality of voting for a strong future for the Cardano Ecosystem and Community.
