Retiring pool error that I don't know how to fix

Hi,

I’m running into a problem with retiring my pool. I had my pool&delegation wallet connected to Daedalus (after the initial pool set up). With some help, I found my new payment.addr and used that to get by the first error I encountered while building the tx.

Now when I submit the tx, I get a witness error: Command failed: transaction submit Error: Error while submitting tx: ShelleyTxValidationError ShelleyBasedEraBabbage (ApplyTxError [UtxowFailure (AlonzoInBabbageUtxowPredFailure (ShelleyInAlonzoUtxowPredFailure (MissingVKeyWitnessesUTXOW (fromList [KeyHash

I don’t know what to do to solve this and submit the tx to retire properly. I did look around for answers first but didn’t understand how, up to this point.

Thanks for any help

Hi,

Check if:

  • ur node is sync and up to date
  • if u are using the right skey files (for wallet) to sign the transaction

Cheers,

Hi Alex,
Thanks

I can be sure my BP&relay nodes were synced and updated (I last tried this a few days ago). Cold node was updated with latest stable bins, same version as BP/relays are using.

I saw the skey mentioned before but I’m not sure what to compare that to. Should I generate new skey for the later addr I used? Assuming it’s not right, (from me using the private key to manage the wallet sometimes with Daedalus?), how do I get it back to the right skey?

It was using coincashew guide, I reached out on their telegram group but got no advice or reply in a week and figured I should try here before leaving it abandoned in full

One skey is the private key you used to sign the transactions on the air-gapped machine. When you setup the pool using Coincashew instructions there was a step to create a payment.skey and vkey.
The other skey used to deregister the pool is the node.skey, also located on your air-gapped machine machine. Those are probably not related to your Daedalus wallet.

Maybe paste all the steps you are taking…

It was my intention to come back and post my exact movements but I got busy with work and then kes expired. I may be out of disk space again as it shows uptime of only 15min on my BP node. I’m not going to worry about it now. I will just abandon it as is and stop paying for the servers. I appreciate you guys trying to help

You don’t need a valid KES to retire the pool. If you don’t retire the pool you will not get back the 500ADA pool deposit.

That is good to know, thanks. Maybe I’ll give it another shot. It’s syncing again now at 72% but the only other times it has ever lost sync was when it ran out of disk space. It shows 94% used so I have a feeling that’s what happened here. I’ll give it another go when it’s synced and post my inputs and outputs here.

Edit: although it would be nice to have the 500 ada back, I’m not really sweating that. I just wanted to retire it properly and make sure it gets removed from the pools list so other people don’t join it
