Hi Greg,
It looks like the password is not the deadalus password but your ledger wallet’s passphrase. Did you set a passphrase when you created this wallet initially? If yes, then this is what you need to type in. If you did not add a passphrase then this is probably just blank, which means, try leaving it blank and continue.
Thanks @ADA4Good but, I don’t remember writing a passphrase? Only the pin for the nano x device and my recovery phrase. hmmm…
@Alexd1985 and @ADA4Good thanks for extending your help. I made a temporary pass phrase on my nano x device (temp PP is good till nano powers off) and tried plugging it in to spending password set up but, again failed!!..
If u used a passphrase when u created the wallet now u must use the same password… if u will set another password u will see another empty new wallet
Thanks Alex. But, clearly this is a bug in the daedalus system. I’ve emailed support and await their reply/help. To me, it dose not make much sense to be asked to set up a spend password (which I have for my mainnet daedalus wallet and verified it works) for my nano x hardwallet linked to my daedalus wallet, only to be told the PW is incorrect??
That’s why I asked u to check on adalite.io

Thanks Alex. Ledger live is still updating firmware… and I believe is the reason for adalite.io “error loading wallet” message. Nevertheless, I can see my ADA in the ledger hard wallet and balance looks correct. Although, I can’t be sure given still unable to get into my nano x hard wallet via daedalus.
In the end, I migrated to Yoroi. Daedalus a bit of a let down and still no reply from IOHK. Thanks for the help @Alexd1985 and @ADA4Good. appreciate it!

You can return anytime to daedalus
(perhaps next release will work better)
Hi Alex, please note that this issue can still occur with the latest version of Daedalus as of March 2022. The error can occur if initial wallet setup fails (possibly due to unexpected disconnection of hardware wallet). As other users have noted, it is not possible to advance beyond this error message in the UX, so the user cannot edit/view/delete the affected wallet via Daedalus. We should open a feature request that the Delete wallet function should be available in the UX even in cases of error, such as this.
Until then, the only known remedy may be a manual deletion and restoration of your wallet(s). As has already been suggested, please verify you have your backup phrases available before performing such a procedure:
