Cannot connect Yoroi wallet with 12 seed phrases

Hi team,

Please help…

I created an Yoroi wallet in 2021, connected with Trezor model T and it shows 12 seed phrases, not 15 seed phrases.
After that I staked ADA in Yoroi platform since then. Now I want to unstake and move out them out from Yoroi platform, but when I connect Trezor with Yoroi platform, it shows that Yoroi wallet needs 15 or 24 seed phrases which I only have 12…

I’ve also restored with Daedalus wallet with 12 seed phrases, it can connect but no amount is shown.

Please help to provide the steps by steps for me to move ADA out from Yoroi wallet:folded_hands:t2::folded_hands:t2:

Then, you have to connect the Trezor to a wallet app to access your funds and not type the seed phrase in. The reason for hardware wallets is to never give the seed phrase to a potentially compromised computer.

Yoroi and Daedalus should both work when you do that, choose “connect to hardware wallet”, not “restore wallet”.

That being said, Trezor (but not Ledger and for 24 word seed phrases it’s also more complicated) uses a seed phrase derivation that is compatible with Cardano’s in general, but Yoroi just chose to not give the possibility to select a length of 12 and Daedalus chose to use a length of 12 exclusively for Byron wallets, not the currently used Shelley wallets.

If you really want to restore in software (making your Trezor completely superfluous), you can restore the 12 word seed phrase in Eternl, Typhon, Lace, and maybe others.

Hi HeptaSean,

I tried by connecting Trezor with Yoroi wallet through PC, but it doesn’t work. I did follow all the instructions in the website and in my hardware.
I tried both undelegate and withdraw button in yoroi, both got the same error.

This is the error message that I got.
What should I do?

You probably have to delegate to a Drep before you are able to withdraw your rewards.

Yoroi should warn about that, though, and not just give a very unhelpful “Transaction failed”.

No idea what is going on there and hard to find out without a more detailed error message.

I’d try Eternl or Typhon who tend to give more details.
