Can't Access The Survey Link From The Catalyst App

Hi, I voted for Fund9 and wanted to participate in the survey. However the link doesn’t work! I think this has happened in the past funds as well but I decided to ask about it now.

https://fund9-servicing-station.gov.iog.io/survey

Is there anyway to get this to work or is there an alternative link available? Does the link work for other people?

Best,
Doggy D. Yoyo

I can’t even find the link in the app.

But no, it doesn’t work. First, the site uses a self-signed cert and I have to accept a lot of “I know what I’m doing.” warnings. Then, I get a 404.

That is too bad. I think there’s a few simple ways that the Catalyst voting app and process can be improved.

The link in the app comes from going the the Catalyst App Dashboard going under IMPORTANT DATES and swiping the Innovation Phase to the left. Under “Governance Phase” click COMPLETE SURVEY. It says there’s 9 days left to do the survey.

Thank you! Never realised that there is something to swipe.

There are! … but even if the survey would work: I have never seen an organisation that took advices from a survey really seriously.

From time to time, possible improvements are discussed here and elsewhere. A lot of the short-comings are known, I’m sure also to the Catalyst team.

The answers alternate between “We are working on it.” and “It will be totally reworked for the introduction of dReps (decentralised representatives), anyway.”.

One of the simplest things I think they could implement is allowing a voter to copy/paste links that are clicked on in catalyst app and sent through the app internet browser with disabilities.

Another that may take a bit more work but still shouldn’t require so much work (maybe, maybe not) is being able to import/export a list of cast votes on a wallet and apply them to another wallet (in case you have more than 1 wallet for voting).

Some people have their yield farming wallet, their ISPO wallet, their NFT wallet, etc. for different instances of the Cardano Blockchain. I’m hopeful the introduction of Lace.io solves this.

That point has been risen multiple times. Of course, I would also want to have that. Could also be used to export the votes from something with a much better UX like https://cardanocataly.st/voter-tool/ and import them into the voter tool.

Believe it or not: The state of Fund9 already was an improvement! In earlier rounds, there was no logout button. The official guide to voting with multiple wallets was to deinstall the app and install it again to login with another voting key.

I don’t see how. It’s just another wallet app. We already have excellent ones. I don’t get why everybody expects a revelation in wallet app technology from the company that brought us Daedalus and the Catalyst voting app.

Oh I know, I’ve been voting and lurking around since Fund2 or Fund3 when they first opened it up to everyone. I’ve voted in most of the funds.

One of the promises I remember Charles made at Consensus was that you’ll be able to vote with your wallet through Lace.io I could be mistaken though it has been a few months. I’m rewatching his lace speech right now

Charles at lace io speech starts talking about Catalyst around 10 min in.

Charles talks about the new voting center (on lace io?) for Catalyst Voting at 10:30

Ah gotcha ok

If I understand https://github.com/cardano-foundation/CIPs/pull/296 correctly, the voting center will be an independent thing that can communicate with all wallet apps through an extension of the dApp connector of CIP-30.

If it would be an extension exclusive to Lace and not possible for the competition it would be a very despicable move by IOG – using their exclusive access to the still proprietary and very much not open and decentralised Catalyst voting system to push their own wallet app against the hard-working competition (which only made their blockchain usable for the previous months).

Ooh interesting! I’m gonna read through this a bit more.

Regardless, you will see it first on lace.io and the other wallets will have it out at the same time or be playing catchup.

Thanks for the link to the CIPs I haven’t really gone into a deep dive on these yet!
