Dear community! As 2020 takes full reign, it is a good time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the future. The first annual video recap highlights some of the achievements and successes of 2019 as the Cardano Foundation transformed itself and is back on the right track. The entire team worked tirelessly to get three years’ work done in a mere 12 months. The Cardano Foundation thanks everyone for their continuous support, patience and encouragement. Our journey toward our goals continues in part thanks to the community that saw an exponential growth in 2019. Together we are stronger! Enjoy the Cardano Foundation: 2019 in review video, which also gives a glimpse to 2020.
II: 2019 in review: the Cardano Foundation’s Transformation
Are you excited? After having seen our Cardano Foundation: 2019 in review video, it is now time to deep dive and recount big wins of the past year. In 2019, the Cardano Foundation took tangible steps in fulfilling our five missions and 2020 will be no exception. We will continue expanding and diversifying the community, drive the adoption of Cardano, shape legislative and commercial standards, ensure stakeholder accountability and facilitate partnerships. The coming year promises to be a very busy one as the Cardano Foundation prepares to take more responsibilities for the protocol. Find out more in the first annual Forum recap post.

Charles Hoskinson 2020’s first surprise AMA.
On 3 January 2020, Charles Hoskinson sat down for the first surprise AMA of 2020. There he looked forward to the emerging technologies of the next decade and the role cryptocurrencies will play in their development. He also confirmed his dedication to positioning Cardano as a global financial and social operating system.
- The next decade will see a dramatic proliferation of technology and cryptocurrencies will be an important part of that development.
- We believe that the 2020s will be the decade of Cardano and we are aiming to grow into a global social and financial operating system.
- Incentives, commercialization, and technology are all key components to master in order to become the industry leading crypto project.
- 2020 is the year of the recursive snark and IOHK is currently exploring the technology internally and externally.
- IOHK is aligning with the Cardano Foundation and Emurgo to develop an international commercialization and marketing strategy.
The Shelley Incentivized Testnet: Delegation and Staking Now Launched on Cardano!
On 13 December 2019, IOHK launched the long awaited Shelley Incentivized Testnet. This Incentivized Testnet will allow you to earn real ada rewards for taking part in its network. Following this successful release of the Daedalus and Yoroi wallets for the Shelley Incentivized network, we have experienced unprecedented demand on the testnet network. IOHK engineers have been and are still working hard since launch to resolve edge-case issues and improve performance. They’ll continue to adjust network parameters and deploy new releases to iterate and optimise the network as required throughout this testnet phase. Your feedback is an essential part of this process. If you have any feedback/suggestions/issues, we would like to ask you to contact our Support Desk.
Thanks for your continued support of the Shelley Incentivized Testnet.
IOHK have also released a Stakepool operator guide containing key info about running a Cardano Shelley Stakepool. Interested in running a Stakepool on the Shelley Incentivized Testnet?
Four additional things to pay extra attention to:
It is important to note that the amount of ada you are holding in your Daedalus or Yoroi wallet at the time of the main UTXO snapshot is the amount that can be used for staking and delegation on the incentivized testnet. You must ensure you have access to your seed words. You will need these and recover your balance details within a special Rewards wallet that has been created for the Shelley testnet.
You do NOT need to send your ada anywhere or to anyone! Please beware of anyone claiming you need to send your ada to them for staking or delegation. This is not the case! Only a number value is captured in the snapshot and this is then used as the figure in your testnet wallet.
DO NOT try to send your mainnet ada (the ada in your regular wallet) to the testnet or a testnet address. This is not possible, and if tried may lead to loss of funds.
A trusted website to download the Shelley Incentivized Testnet Rewards Wallet apps is: https://staking.cardano.org/en/ any other unofficial or third party websites should be avoided!
