Thanks, Atlas. Let’s hope that the next iteration of Cardano will fix this once and for all.
One more question: Are any of you getting notifications when Daedalus wallet updates are available to be installed or do they install automatically upon opening or quitting the wallet?
Thanks for clarification. I thought this would be the case already in 1.4 and was surprised that the syncing time wasn’t any different from before the update.
Syncing won’t be any faster, only restoration. Syncing was fixed in an earlier release where we’ve seen a 4x speedup. It’s pretty fast for a full node.
Daedalus will eventually include light mode which means instantly usable after installation and syncs in the background to become a full node.
Restored a wallet today on an older laptop after getting the “Cardano node crashed” message, had to use the uninstall daedalus & rename %appdata% files option that the support page described, then had to sync the time,it took just under 9 hours to sync the blocks, then 2 hour 40 min to restore.
I think the average speed from my ISP was like 78 mps
Chose not to cleanup the hard drive first just to see if it would complete (many useless files just kickin around on it), slowed my other apps like TG and reminded me of launching old qt wallets
