Jeffrey, definitely turn your firewall back on. But as you may already know, put rules in your firewall that will allow the Daedalus wallet to connect to the internet. If I were you I would look up at least 2 things:
How to enable port forwarding for your specific type of router?
Which port on Daedalus do you need to forward?
I would test the new rule/rules that it works when the firewall is on and make changes as needed. Get rid of the rule if it is ineffective. Maybe there is a thread on this forum which explains firewalls?
Anyway, glad I could help you out brother. Have a great day!
~Rick
Edit: Only use port forwarding if it is needed. Then scan your own firewall for open ports using the Shields Up website to make sure you did not make any holes you donât want. https://www.grc.com/shieldsup
Apple tech support is very good. Since you were using the Apple firewall, I donât recommend using port forwarding unless the Apple Tech support tells you to do something like that. I was assuming you were using a hardware firewall.
How the hell do you think we can send you logs when we canât even get the fâing Daedalus GUI to sync???
I have super fast internet and it took 4-5 days to getting this disgrace of a GUI to finally sync. When I have quit this joke of a GUI and re-started, same deal. 4-5 days wait to get it synced again.
This project does not deserve a top 10 Market Cap position; not even close!!!
You are barking up the wrong tree. I am not from the Cardano team. Just a regular forum member doing his best to help⌠There is no need to be that aggressive.
I am also running 10.13.3 and had no problem. Every known Daedalus issue and its solution are listed in the FAQ tab on the official Daedalus website. Keep in mind that most of the time, unsolved issues are user-related (firewalls, specific antivirus or set-up etcâŚ) and not Cardano related. Most but not all of them. The upcoming Light Version of Daedalus should help in the future
Solution:
Launching the wallet through the original shortcut on the desktop or Start menu, NOT from shortcuts pinned by me to the taskbar . The important aspect is that you get the security message âDo you want to allow this program to make changes to your PCâŚâ
Open Point:
Maybe even running the daedalus.bat, as administrator, from the install folders works. Someone might give it a try - yes, I saw in another thread that a youtube video presents exactly the .bat file solution as feasible
I had the same issue as many of you and the reason why i was having it was that my PC time was not synced with Internet time. My PC time was off for 35 seconds at least.
sync your PC time with the time on that site MANUALLY, thats what i did. Before that the wallet was connecting for hours with the blue screen with a message âconnecting to networkâ
But you have to enter the time manually by going into your settings>date and time etc etc. if you are not sure how to do that I will let you know exactly. Dont click on the Update Now under Internet Time Settings, thats not gonna work, at least not for me, do it the old fashioned way - enter the mins and secs by yourself.
Now my wallet loads up every time I open and close it.
Try this before you mess around with deleting folders and other stuff
This is driving me nuts guys. I want to support what youâre doing but itâs incredibly frustrating when you canât even access your own funds. Iâm on OSX 10.12.6, tried everything and still unable to open the Daedalus Wallet. I am receiving the âConnecting to the networkâ loading message forever. Iâve tried re-installing it numerous times and even completely removing my wallet application folder under the Application Support directory but nothing has corrected the problem. Iâve tried all of the suggestions in the FAQ and the same issue persists. At this point I guess there is no hope but to wait for a solution, meanwhile my ADA is locked up in my wallet that I canât access. I understand this is early stages, but this needs a fix asap - or else push to get ADA on Nano S devices asap because thatâs where Iâll store mine once I get access to it again.
I had experienced the same exact problem mentioned originally in the topic here i.e. the wallet goes hung âconnecting to networkâ after an attempt of recovering an wallet.
I tried below but not worked.
Deleted all logs.
deleted open.lock file.
Then I decided to delete a recent block in hope of force sync, so I deleted recent folder under AppData\Roaming\Daedalus\DB-1.0\blocks\data and guess what it worked, if finally sync for that last block and also recovered my wallet using recovery phase.
Someone please try this and let me know if this works,
After trying to solve the problems with others solutions that was posted in this wonderful forum, today I change my DNS server IP to Open DNS Addresses: 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222 and It starting to sync process. After Only with changing DNS server, it worked finally.
I am using Mac, and none of the tips above worked for me. Perhaps I did something wrong. So I gave up and just let the program run while I made dinner. And voila - it appeared that I only had to let the program figure it out by itself.
So to others out there, if nothing seems to work, just try to open the program and let it run and perhaps it will sort itself out.
Iâm working on a Macbook Pro running MacOS High Sierra.
Try this:
Open Force Quit Applications (Option+Command+ Esc)
Quit Everything
From Finder > Go to Applications > Control Click âDaedulusâ > select âGet Infoâ > Select Option: OPEN IN LOW RESOLUTION
Restart Computer
After restart, make sure no other application windows are open then, try to reopen Daedulus
After trying a million things, this option worked for me. Of course, then⌠you have to wait for Daedulus to rebuild about 30% of blocks. Which will take 30min - 1hour. Patience is the game.
We shouldnât have to work this hard to use a product. Reading all this makes me think I need to take a programming class just to open a wallet. I gave up on it; close to giving up on the coin. Just trying to hold on in case another storage becomes available due to the lack of another option. They should have waited to make available.
