Daedalus Wallet Stuck on "Connecting to Network"

I’m in Windows but anyway…The time sync worked the first time than no longer. So then on another user’s advice I emptied the logs folder (into a backup folder) C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Daedalus
and now it’s working again…I know the file system is different on a Mac but possibly a similar fix available?

Thanks. Glad to help.

Just to let you know i moved the Logs directory on my mac to Logs.old and restarted the wallet, asked me for Language , accept and wallet immediately started syncing after few minutes all was ok.
So to me that is the solution to Connecting network…

on Mac
stop wallet app
open terminal and goto cd /Users/your username/Library/Application\ Support/Daedalus/
mv Logs Logs.old
restart wallet

Nope no problem, what OS are you on? I also received the update via the wallet and worked like a charm!

I think this is probably why most people think they are having trouble. Also it might be a good idea to maybe buy a new pc or once in a while do some real clean-ups, back-ups and stuff like that, especially before updating so you feel safe when shit goes sideways. I luckily never had any problems on windows 10 and also the wallet update (1.1.4883) worked like a charm

Lol Don’t see this in a bad way but i have a Master Degree in Computer Science and i have the latest macbook pro and also a PC with the latest technology. This has really nothing to do with the issue i had. The fact that more then one user had the same problem, using different OS and different equipment the problem can not be OS or hardware. Clearly there was something in the app that maybe had a lock file. Hopefully the wallet engineers can dive into that deeper but for now it all works fine after the workaround.

@Armand Oke I don’t have an Apple machine so forgive me.
PS where did you get your Master’s Degree? Maybe the Daedalus team will hire you

This daedalus became a nightmare to me. Since two weeks ago, when my notebook broke and I bought a new one (windows 10), I have seen all kinds of bugs. First, when I restored the wallet, my balance was wrong, with less ada than it should there. But in the blockchain history, everything was fine. So I thought maybe there was a problem syncing the wallet, so I deleted it. But then now it’s stuck in connecting to network for hours, and when I get to the restoration menu, it says I had restored that wallet already, but doesn’t show me my wallet, it just stays in that restoration message forever (I tried to wait to see it something would happen, but no…). So I closed again, reinstalled and it’s stuck again in connecting to network. Those horrible difficulties with Daedalus make it impossible to be used. IOHK should get as many people as they can to fix everything about this wallet, and then worry again about Shelley and everything else, otherwise they will lose credibility.

Hi @Nefall. Did you install the latest update?
You can find it over here. Close daedalus and terminate the cardano-node in the taskmanager.

Now install the new version, no need to uninstall the previous one, just open the the latest install file and follow the steps.

Hi Tim. Yes, I installed the new version of the wallet and tried to connect and then restore the wallet but with no success. The only moment I was successfull was at the first time with the new wallet, but as the funds of my wallet were wrong (1/3), I deleted and now am stuck with connecting or stuck during restoration.

Define stuck, is it stuck syncing at a certain percentage or do you see a connecting to the network msg?

It’s stuck “connecting to network”. But there were times that I could reach, after long hours, the menu for creating / restoring wallet. Then I wrote my 12 words password and received the message that the wallet already exists. Then daedalus didn’t do anything. It stayed with this red phrase “wallet already exists” under the 12 words passwors forever. I waited for hours and notjing. Then tried to closed it and open again but then it went back to long hours of connecting to network. The only moment I could restore the wallet was at the first time I downloaded the new version. But since daedalus was showing 1/3 of the amount of ada I should have, I deleted again to try to restore it correctly. But then every try I gave I failed in this cycle of “connecting to network” and “this wallet already exists” in restoration. So I don’t know what I could do anymore. I uninstalled and reinstalled, checked if internet clock was synched, opened the “.bat” file. I’m starting to think I will have to wait for a newer fixed version of daedalus to see my funds again. I don’t have any problems with wallets from other coins. It’s just daedalus.

Are you one hundred percent certain, you deleted every folder when you uninstalled?

Perhaps you could take a look at this post. Someone was having the same problems as you and got it to work by deleting the logs and killing the cardano-node in task manager.

I didn’t delete everything… You’re right. After I deleted the %appData%, and reinstalled deadalus, it worked perfectly. Thank you very much, and God bless you!

I had the issue getting stuck at “connecting to network”. Before starting re-installing Daedalus, deleting folders etc, according to tips in this thread, I did some simple troubleshooting myself.

I am on a laptop connected through wifi, but it struck me that I have been having some issues with my wifi on other devices like iPhone and Chromecast. I dusted of my old gear box and pulled out a LAN-cable. Connecting directly to the router, BOOM, it started syncing blocks.

It seems like a lot of people have proper trouble with the actual wallet, but for my sake it looks like the problem was my own wifi. Direct ethernet connection solved the problem.

Good to know, not aware of this being mentioned before.

Good post @rollerbirdie . I have suspected that network connectivity may be an issue for several of my wallets including Daedalus. It does not seem to be a speed problem though. I hope the IOHK and Cardano teams are taking a look at how well the Daedalus wallet holds up to network issues and improves it. One of the discussion points presented by IOHK is that the Cardano network needs to operate under less than optimal conditions.

Worth, trying this,: 6 Steps to get your Ada Daedalus Wallet work!

The video is wrong: it says start using .bat file, not .exe, but since the previous update it must be started using cardano-launcher.exe.
