Can’t seem to download the Daedalus wallet ( on MacBook Air ) 8 g ram to get into my wallet to move the ADA into a cold storage. Please help. Is there a way to do this without waiting 2-5 days and then only having 95% downloaded? Just want to move to an easier cold storage like Tangem. Thank you.
What kind of wallet do you have? Byron (Ddz…
addresses, 12 word seed phrase) or Shelley (addr1…
addresses, 24 word seed phrase)?
For Shelley: You can import/restore your wallet in any other wallet app – https://cardano.org/what-is-ada/#wallets – and move your assets from there.
For Byron: There are not many wallet apps supporting that, basically only adalite.io and adawallet.io, where the latter seems to have slightly more reliable support.
All of them are light wallet apps and should give you access to your wallet in seconds without needing nearly as many resources as Daedalus.
Personally wouldn’t use Tangem because there are no other wallet apps supporting that, you are confined to and dependent on their wallet app – and it seems they didn’t even implement staking by now.
Ledger and Trezor should work with most Cardano wallet apps. Keystone also already has some supporting it.
Also, Daedalus needs a minimum of 16GB of ram to work properly.
I believe I have the Shelley wallet 24 word seed phrase. So should I use the Link you provided? Thank you for the assistance.
Dave
Also can I use my IPad for these transactions?
That’s good. Then you have a lot of choices what alternative wallet apps you can use to access your wallet.
The link goes to the list of wallet apps on the official cardano.org homepage.
You can choose a wallet app that you want to use there.
The ones that say “App for iOS” in that list should be no problem on an iPad.
Moreover, at least Eternl and Typhon can also be used directly in the browser which should also work on an iPad.
OK, thank you for the information. I opened VESPR wallet onto my iPad. How does that new wallet (VESPR) get my ADA from the Shelley wallet to the VESPR wallet. Do I have to connect them somehow? Thanks again, Dave.
Your ADA do not have to be transferred, Vespr doesn’t have to “get” your ADA.
Assets on cryptocurrency blockchains are never inside wallet apps. Wallet apps are just used to control wallets that are on the blockchain. And you can use different wallet apps to control the same wallets.
So, what you do is that you choose “restore wallet” here and use the seed phrase of your Daedalus wallet to import exactly the same wallet and control it with Vespr instead of Daedalus:
Do I have to buy a MacBook with 16+ gigabyte to open up the Daedalus Shelley wallet? Sorry, but this is frustrating.
Yes, this is frustrating. I just told you that you can control exactly the same wallet with another wallet app without ever touching Daedalus again and you ask if you need to buy a new laptop to run Daedalus. Why TF?!? Am I speaking Chinese?!?
Lol, settle down. I appreciate the help. my nephew hooked me up with this Cardano BS years ago. I rather regret it as it’s a pain in my ass and I’m down 30% oh well thankfully bitcoin has done well for me and it’s not nearly as complicated
Sorry, brother I appreciate the help that second question came out before your post. Over
