Interview - Cardano NFTs #058: Genesis Ark Abstracts

Original Placement:

Today’s guest on the Cardano NFTs column is an artist specializing in gestural abstract art, drawing inspiration from his fascination with the financial markets: Genesis Ark Abstracts.

The previous guest is a music producer from Norway who releases songs as MusicNFTs on Cardano.

This column is where I invite NFT projects to share their stories and vision as a way to connect with and learn about the Cardano Community.

Hey, glad to have you here. Please introduce yourself, where are you from, what are your backgrounds?

Hello, I’m thrilled to be here. My name is Thorn, and I am an artist specializing in gestural abstract art. I am the creator of a unique art collection titled “Critical Points”, which draws inspiration from my fascination with the financial markets.

My collection is a visual chronicle of significant moments in both the cryptocurrency and traditional financial markets. Through my work, I aim to capture the emotional resonance of these volatile landscapes and invite viewers to find tranquillity amidst chaos.

Tell us something about your art and your journey as an artist in both the traditional world and the new NFT world.

My journey as an artist has always been one of exploration and discovery. Initially, I was captivated by the traditional world of art, exploring different styles and mediums to express my creativity. However, the emergence of NFTs and blockchain technology opened up a new avenue for me. I was particularly drawn to the unique intersection of art and finance that these digital assets represented.

“Critical Points” is a reflection of this journey. Each piece in this collection is an interpretation of key moments in the financial world, both traditional and crypto, reflecting the inherent volatility of these markets and their impact on human psychology. The journey has been exhilarating, as I navigate the ebbs and flows of these landscapes, translating them into visual forms.

While my art reflects the turbulence of these markets, it also serves as a sanctuary. I invite viewers to step away from the whirlwind of market volatility and find a realm of tranquility and inner peace and you may find a poetic surprise in my NFTs’ metadata!

My journey into the NFT world has not only been an extension of my artistic pursuits but also a personal exploration of the emotional landscape of finance.

Why have you chosen Cardano? And how have you found the process of minting your art as NFTs?

I chose Cardano because of its unique approach to sustainability, security, and scalability. I was attracted to its proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, after watching Charles’ whiteboard YouTube upload, which showed Cardano is more energy-efficient than the proof-of-work systems used by many other blockchains. This aligns with my belief in creating art in a sustainable and environmentally-conscious way.

The process of minting my art as NFTs on Cardano has been relatively straightforward. Cardano’s user-friendly platforms and supportive community have made the transition into the NFT space smooth. It has been a learning experience, and I am continually discovering new aspects of this dynamic and rapidly-evolving field.

How long have you been in the Cardano NFT space? Do you have any favourite collections

I have been involved in the Cardano NFT space for a while now. It’s a vibrant and dynamic community that continually inspires me.

There are many collections and projects that I admire, but it’s hard to single out favorites as the space is constantly evolving and growing from the Goofy Gophers Mining Club to the OG SpaceBudz.

What I enjoy most is the diversity and creativity of the artists and creators in the Cardano ecosystem.

Awesome. Any final thoughts? Where can people stay in touch?

As I continue to explore the intersection of art and finance, I am excited about the potential of NFTs and blockchain technology to redefine the art world, be that physical/digital art and spoken word. I believe that we’re just at the beginning of this journey, and I’m looking forward to what the future holds.

You can stay in touch with me and follow my work on Elon’s now X platform where I regularly post updates about my art and my journey.

Here’s my Kreate platform link to my works I’ve uploaded to date

I intend to cross chains to VeChain and Tezos! Let’s continue this artistic voyage together and find solace amidst the chaos.
