Ledger nano x & Yoroi wallet

If you use a Ledger your funds cant get stolen unless someone saw your seed (24 words) or has physical access to your ledger device and has your pin for it. So no your ada cant be stolen.

Thank you.

I had this same issue on a Mac. Read this thread looking for an answer and after seeing the driver issue (no driver is needed for Mac) I realized that I also had ledger connected to Ledger Live and Sync (two seperate apps.) After closing these other apps, Yoroi was able to connect to my ledger. So possible fix for future users is that make sure no other app is connected to your ledger when transacting on Yoroi.

Quick question. whats the point of a ledger nano x and yoroi together. If I get on my phone or computer and use yoroi with out being connected to my ledger i am able to look at my ADA and it seems as thought i can transfer ADA without any extra security. i have not tried sending My ADA anywhere due to this concern. im having a hard time wrapping my head around what the ledger and Yoroi do together.

You cannot send your Ada if you’re using ledger with Yoroi. You will always be able to see the balance whether you have your ledger connected or not. But you will not be able to send anything without your ledger connected. Yoroi is just an interface to the blockchain. The difference between using Yoroi on its own is the private keys are stored on your device and in such case you will need a spending password to send the funds. On the ledger your private keys never leave your ledger device which makes it very secure. Your private keys are always needed to move your funds

Thank you. maybe you can help me understand how I can transfer ADA from Binance.us to Yoroi without having to have my Ledger x unlocked and connected. I’m struggling to wrap my head around the idea and how the ledger x contributes to the security of ADA. im struggling to make the connection. thank you for your time and help.

When you send money to your ledger address you are sending it to an address associated with your public keys which are created by your private keys. Think of your private keys like your bank pass code needed to make transactions and draw out money and your public keys like your bank account number. Your public keys create addresses where you can send funds too. So for example if you wanted to send me money to my bank account you would need my bank account number and sort code. You wouldn’t be able to take money out of my account just send it to there. This is the same with your public address. So when you send money to your public address using your ledger to Yoroi your ledger will ask you to confirm the address is the same on your ledger screen to the one on the device you are using. This is basically so if you had malware on your device or someone hacked your device they could basically change the public address so the funds could be sent somewhere else. The ledger lets you make sure it is your address and make sure it matches up because it’s virtually impossible to hack the ledger even when it’s connected to a computer which is full of virus’s and spyware. You can still send funds to your Yoroi ledger address without your ledger after you’ve confirmed the address but it’s always best when you create a fresh address to get it confirmed on your ledger first. I hope this makes sense and if you do a bit of research on private keys and public keys and how they work this message should make a lot more sense

I’m late to the party. Have you considered upgrading to Windows 10? It’s free now.

I’ve recently purchased a Nano X because I had no room for ADA on my Nano S. I’ve followed the instructions and my ADA holding is showing on Yoroi. I’ve installed the ADA app on my Nano X. Everything seemed to setup ok but I don’t see anything for ADA in Portfolio or Accounts in Ledger Live. It does show as an installed app in Maintenance. Should I see details of my ADA in Ledger Live?

Hi, unfortunately ledger live does not support Cardano at the moment and you can only access the blockchain with Ledger through the official Daedalus wallet ( not the app as this is a scam ) Yoroi wallet and Adalite. All are compatible with Ledger. NEVER give out your 24 words as this seems to be happening a lot. Hope this helps
