I have official Yoroi chrome extension and same has been connected in Eternl as well. Last week on June 4th all of my ADA has been transfered to other address.
I have an issue that I canāt make sense off, I bought ada in early 2021 from coinmama I sent the ada to Yoroi wallet on iPhone and the balance was there I never touched or sent any anywhere.
Recently I upgraded my phone and when the apps moved over the balance was zero with no transaction history, I created a new wallet of my paper seed phrase and expected to see my ada balance and nothing appeared.
I know 100% my seed phrase has never been compromised just wrote down and extremely well stored, so without the seed phrase how the hell has my balance disappeared?
I would love to be questioned to find out if and why I canāt see my balance, BTW I downloaded another wallet Eternl app and ran my 15 word seed phrase through that yet no ada balance showed and no transaction history so itās like itās been wiped.
Hi,
If u restored the wallet and u see a completly new wallet (0 balance and no transaction history) it means u did not use the original seed words
Did u also check on cardanoscan.io if u see any transactions?
It was a yoroi wallet since the begining? Maybe u restored/imported another wallet on yoroi?
Did u use a HW wallet like ledger or trezor?
Go to coinmama ā transactions historyā¦ copy the ada address where u sent the funds and paste it on cardanoscan.ioā¦ u should see the fundsā¦ for that wallet u will need the seed words
Cheers,
I bought them on coinmama and I have the address I sent them to the Yoroi wallet, so all I need it the seed phrase and this site will show me the balance?
Nope, cardanoscan.io will confirm that the funds are on wallet you sent from coinmama
Your above issue (0 balance/no transactions) its because u used a wrong/different seed words
We already had the Cardanoscan link in the other thread:
https://cardanoscan.io/address/Ae2tdPwUPEZ67QmHbpxnSku8odn6dhZj5x5AAPREPCVAnduJCgmT312JV2W
Yes, the funds are still there. No, up to now we do not know which seed phrase (or Ledger) might be the key to that address.
That has to be found or else nobody can access those ADA even if we can see them there.
It looks like byron address?
Try to restore yoroi as byron not sheely
But that address is not an yoroi shelly addressā¦ for shelly should start with addr1ā¦
I did with the help of this guy but it shows no transaction history or balance, we think it may be linked to my Ledger and this could be the issue.
Then pair ur ledger with yoroi and check
Perhaps, we should just consolidate this in the other thread?
I will do it tomorrow and let you know as I must go now but thank you for replying and sharing your expertise many thanks!
Hi Iām trying to connect my Ledger nano X via Bluetooth on my iPhone through Yoroi wallet, it all works and gives me a command prompt on device to export public key Byron which I did then the end screen says name wallet and save yet it wonāt let me save, Iām confused what does this mean?
Only reasons I could find on the fly that it wonāt let you save at that point is either empty wallet name or wallet name of an already used wallet or maybe invalid wallet name.
Does it say what the problem is? Usually written in red below the input field in Yoroi.
Itās has done it the ada are in there, but Iām still confused.
The wallet I created last night had no balance so Iām presuming I can delete that one to save confusion?, what I canāt get my head around is are my ada on Ledger or Yoroi, if I log into Ledger live on my laptop because the ada are showing in my Yoroi app wallet linked to my Ledger now will they show in Ledger live in my Cardano wallet.
You were right last night.
Yes, you can and probably should do that.
Neither, ADA (and other cryptocurrencies) are never inside or on a Ledger or a wallet app.
It is recorded on the specific blockchain that they are sitting on an address and can be spent from there if you have the keys to sign the transaction.
One way to give such keys is a seed phrase so that the wallet app can construct the keys from it. Another way is to connect a Ledger and the wallet app asks the Ledger to sign transactions. (And the Ledger internally also constructs keys from its seed phrase that better never leaves the hardware, since it is their reason that that only happens inside this extra device.)
Ledger Live is just another wallet app like Yoroi, Eternl, Typhon, ā¦ (and additionally has some functionality to update the software on the Ledger hardware, but the part where you see your cryptocurrencies is just the same).
You can use the same wallet ā seed phrase or Ledger ā in a lot of different wallet apps. They will all see the same balance and the same transactions. If you do a transaction in one of them, it will after some minutes appear in the others. Itās just like logging in to a Twitter account with some different web browsers. Itās the same account. If you tweet from Chrome and then switch to Firefox, you will see the same tweet there.
What makes your case here a little bit special is that it is an old Byron wallet. There are not many wallet apps that support them ā Yoroi, Daedalus, and Adalite basically and not even fully compatible with each other.
So, you donāt see the funds on Ledger Live, because that is a wallet app that does not know about Byron wallets. They are still protected by the secrets on your Ledger hardware, not stored on the hardware, but linked to it. You need the Ledger to spend them. The Ledger has the keys to them, but more or less only Yoroi can use them.
Because of this very limited support for Byron, I would advise to open a new, Shelley wallet ā also connected to the Ledger, since if you have a hardware wallet you should absolutely use it ā and send everything from your old Byron wallet to this new wallet.
With such a new Shelley wallet, you can then test out that you will see the same balance and transactions in Yoroi, Ledger Live, eternl.io, adalite.io etc. pp. You can quite freely choose which wallet app you like. With a hardware wallet, the risk is very minimal, since wallet apps always have to ask the hardware for any transaction.
I do understand the part that the balance is only a representation of whey you own and the tokens all reside on the blockchain i am confusing myself and the task at hand.
Iāve just been trying to transfer the funds out of that wallet to my Ledger and it wonāt let me so I believe Ledger isnāt recognising this old address format as you say, but how do I set up a newer format wallet Shelley or other so I can send the funds?
Iām not far off now and Iāve learnt a lot.
How exactly did you do that?
You have an addr1ā¦
Cardano receive address that you got out of Ledger Live?
Yoroi should really let you send out to that.
You can:
- Add a Cardano account in Lesger Live.
- Add wallet (this time not the āByron-era ā Deprecatedā option) and connect to Ledger Nano in Yoroi.
- Connect any other wallet app to the Ledger.
As said, all of these options open exactly the same wallet, just in different software clients. They also should give you the same receive addresses (but they might have some different choices which one they prefer as the next to be used).
How I tried transferring was I already had downloaded Cardona app on Ledger Live so I pressed receive on Ledger Live and connected my device then it gave me an address, on my Yoroi wallet with the ada I pressed sent and linked through the QR code then followed the institutions on my nano x, but it didnāt sent it was processing on Yoroi wallet like it was stuck!
Yes, thatās exactly how it should work, but it definitely did not go through.
Try again. Make sure to commit all questions on the Ledger until it says āCardano is readyā again. Does Yoroi give some error?
After I go through everything it says on Ledger address shared securely but nothing happens, on my mobile on Yoroi it is still processing.
I thought Iād try sending to Eternl app so I created a receive address copied it and pasted into Yoroi, send all funds it didnāt all that happened on Yoroi interestingly was it said follow instructions on Ledger device, how can that be I wasnāt even sending to Ledger.
Sorry late reply because Iām a noob Iād reached my maximum replies, Iām not presuming that updates for Yoroi wallet are lapsed and because my wallet it old this is causing these issues.
