If you follow the instructions step by step you will get a lot of errors and your node won’t synchronize. I don’t know were to report this.
EDIT 1. This is the section of the course that I mention, Installing Cardano-node - Stake pool course EDIT: Please note that this course has been archived. We moved this whole section to the new developer portal on: https://developers.cardano.org/docs/operate-a-stake-pool/

Hi - could you please share the link of this section of the course - thanks
Thanks @JoseBravo . This will be helpful guide for new member who want to be stake pool operator.
Dear community, is it still possible to use Stake Pool Course as a guide for testing? I’m stuck at installing Cabal. Seems the links are not updated. This testnet era is over and SPOs now have to find their way to the mainnet themselves? Or can we still test it on the testnet? Thanks for clarification.
Yes, it can be used, In lesson 1 you have to use tag 1.25.1 instead of 1.24.2 and in lesson 2 you have to use --mary-era instead of --alllegra-era. The updated version is this course Creating a stake pool — Cardano Documentation 1.0.0 documentation but you have to manually change --mainnet for testnet-magic 1097911063
To be completeIy honest I still can’t get my producing node running (probably a mistake on my end and not in the documentation), but yea, apart from those two things mentioned earlier the stake-pool course works like a charm. The videos are pretty well explained also.
Testnet is working fine, don’t start messing around with mainnet if you haven’t made your stuff work in the testnet
EDIT: got my producing node running!

Good to see someone’s on the same page. Thank you Jose! I watched the whole course, Carlos did great job and I read the guidebook several times. Though I’m still struggling with getting Cabal to work. I’m still at the beginning of lesson 1. It is updated to version 3.4.0.0 now, so I just have to figure out how to make it work for my Virtualbox / Ubuntu 20.04 right now. As a testing environment.
After the line: cabal update
I’m still getting: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error
Did you experience something similar?
Congrats to your node up and running!
I had the same problem, but becuase I was trying to run it on a raspberry pi, do you meet all the requirements? 8gb of ram, 64 bit cpu, etc
