Please HELP with Daedalus

Yes i have

I have reached out to the Cardano again and they replied with this…
Thank you for contacting the IOHK Technical Support Desk. This is a known issue and our developers are working on solving it. We do not have a workaround at this time. You may want to try using Daedalus on a different machine for the time being.

We will contact you when we have a solution. It may take some time to resolve your issue so please be patient. Instead of making a new issue when you contact us to follow-up, please reply to this email.

guess i have to buy a new computer.

BTW - I am in the process of emptying my trash bin, it contained the contents of the DB 1.0 folder - 676,000 items and counting… WHOA

when you uninstalled it, it may have left some remnants or a daemon running.

terminal will take a few seconds also, it wont give you an output straight away

great reply, very helpful to those with no terminal experience +1 for you helping @samsaraa

Ok, I opened Daedalus using a separate login. It took a couple hours to synchronize - but it completed to 100% and then showed the 4 options that appear when it does not find an existing wallet.

So perhaps there is some difference that is preventing you.

Maybe, but I cant even get to the syncing screen. it just holds up at the connecting to network screen. I did leave this screen over night last night to no avail.

I wish I could help to get the wallet working, it cannot be that complicated.

No problem. I really do appreciate your effort. Ill be able to log in on a different computer this weekend. ill keep you all in the loop when i know more.

it probably isnt that complicated, just an uninstall that has left behind a daemon listening on that port, I dont think @samsaraa waited long enough for terminal to output from the lsof -i | grep localhost:8090
something has to be running if the db file in the trash is growing

Well, I do have this issue many times. What I´m doing is sharing the network of my mobile phone 4g… starting the wallet and downloading the data (because it´s working with the internet of my mobile phone, which is very strange^^), after that I have to restart my router open the wallet again and it´s working. I have no idea why, it might help you

That’s a hint that some thing was downloaded.

@samsaraa Take a look in Activity Monitor (Finder > Applications > Utilities)

Select the network tab, in the table that appears do you see a row for cardano_node ?

no cardano node…

@Chronicus - i will try this again and wait longer!

and the db in the trash? is it still growing? This is all very weird to have this behaviour.
the correct output should be something like this:
cardano-n 11179 opk 69u IPv4 0x81a40aa4ee44e593 0t0 TCP localhost:8090 (LISTEN)

yes it is still growing. I stopped the process by accident at 1.3 million, so now currently it is at 200k

maybe just close daedelus, delete your trash, reboot and try daedelus again, maybe its smart enough to map again

When i say that the trash is growing, im referring to the fact that that is the number of deleted files in the empty trash process. The DB1.0 file must be huge. So the problem must be that the trash is still deleting.
