If the Stake Address is no longer registered, I seem to remember that the deposit goes back to the treasury.

Three years ago, you said reserves:

Hi coleagues. Unfortunately i had to give up on my own pool project. Already de-registered, i do have the funds back in the rewards account related to the pool. Issue is that i built the transaction to get those funds back, using payment.skey and stake.skey. The hash i get from the error message is the one that comes from “cat reward.vkey” so i guess that it should be reward.skey the missing signature. I cannot find this file anywhere. An i am the pool owner, any hints on whether it is possible …

Also was about the 500 ADA pool deposit. This time with the problem that the only(?) .skey file seems to be for the wrong stake.

(Interestingly, exactly the example I found when trying to answer Gentleman_Goat’s question on which stake the deposit comes back when reward and owner are different stake keys. Also not that many examples of that situation. Most often, both are just the same. Or at least the rewards stake key is one of the owners.)
