Still haven't been able to connect to incentivized testnet

I agree. My ITN wallet has not connected for over a week now.

It is stuck at syncing blocks slowly falling behind as nothing happens.

Just restart your node when you get the syncing blocks message, it isn’t going to catch up no matter how long you wait.

It usually takes me between 5 minutes and several hours (and a random number of restarts) to connect, but it does look like the network is having an exceptionally bad day today.

We also need to remind people to clean up their Computer if they are having a truly difficult time after connecting once before, deleting all browsing history and defragmenting the hard drive allows a computer to work more efficiently, I also have problems getting my ITN wallet up and going but I have found I am much more successful after I delete my browsing history, have minimal programs running in the background and have recently defragmented my drive (not sure how SSD works I am still using a HD).
Also if someone continues to have problems then they might call their internet service provider to ensure they have full access to the bandwidth they have subscribed to - at times in this day and age ISP providers have been known to restrict specific information streams at peak times and a friendly call can get things squared away - the networking side of connecting to the ITN is problematic on both sides of the network ā€œWallet Users and Pool Operatorsā€ - hopefully we will see a super networking genius address this with some new strategy, hopefully…

There may be a few exceptions I’m not aware of, but as a rule SSDs don’t need to be defragged. Even with modern mechanical HDs it’s generally not worth the bother anymore unless you really want to squeeze every last millisecond out of it.

While clearing browser cache, limiting the number of active processes etc may improve performance somewhat (especially if you have an older computer), I don’t see how that will solve the current ITN congestion which is the main problem.

Can’t complain about a testnet being pushed to its limits ofc, but I do hope we’ll move past this with the next update

EDIT: quick update: the syncing does take place according to the diagnostics screen, but unlike my computer and connection it’s glacially slow. So yeah, network issue. Nothing we can do but wait and pray :expressionless:

Each day since 23 Dec 2019 when I started taking reward wallet snapshots I was always able to connect after couple of minutes and after hitting ā€œRESTART CARDANO NODEā€ button couple of times, but not anymore. Today is the second day I’m not able to get Daedalus start.

Last Synchronized block is always showing 28187 in epoch 40.

I also tried VPN to other location, but with the same result. Maybe it was not far enough from this broken part of the network.

Made it work. Used trusted peers from https://adapools.org/peers and waited with restarts only after the network traffic almost ceased or last network block got stuck. Had to restart 3 times. First interval with 20 minutes, second 3 minutes and the last restart finally showed the wallet. Without the updated trusted peers, Jormungandr was just dying with ā€œChild process jormungandr exited with status 9ā€ log message.

Will there be some fixed version of Deadalus coming in the following days? I wonder if I need to fix ti manually as well or whether some future version will fix it automatically. I have not been able to connect for the past 14 days (but my pool has good performance so I believe rewards are still coming… just can’t change delegation and check balance).

It took me yesterday 6 hours to connect with a lot of restarts… how long did you try?

There will be a new version of Daedalus but I don’t think there’s been any announcement. You can force a reset by doing this but due to the state of the network it might take a long time to catch up. Or you can just keep trying, it might well get through eventually.

I believe it will be coming shortly. There were no commits to 2.1.0-ITN1 branch for 5 days suggesting testing is going on and no issues were found. Also last commit says ā€œPrepare 2.1.0-ITN1 releaseā€.

I tried it three times for 1-2 hours per try and then gave up.

I’m having the same problem, why not keep trying, what does it cost you? At the moment I have it running most of the time while I’m doing other things on the laptop (such as this). :slightly_smiling_face: Every so often I restart the node, or close it down altogether, leave it for a while then restart.

Livetime and nerves… This testnet tests the capacity for suffering of its users so far.

I gave up on Daedalus ITN wallet completely until they release new version. This thread on reddit might be helpful to those who aren’t ready or willing to give up yet:

Well, I am not using Daedalus on my work computer but rather on the machine I have at home which is turned off most of the time. I guess I will wait couple more days/weeks for a working version.

So far, I am quite happy with the testnet quality and Yoroi is working nicely as well (sadly support only one wallet at the same time). As always, Daedalus is the weak spot of the Cardano ecosystem.

OK, doesn’t really bother me but I can see it does some folk.

It has been a while responding…sorry…I am much more active in the telegram channel…I stopped trying and recovered with Yoroi…much better experience…looking forward now to next steps in the project…great update by Charles the other day

I couldnt sync for about a week but yesterday everything started working again for me.

Same problem here, sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn’t. Luckily I was able to stake so it’s a surprise how much the rewards are every time I do manage to log in.

So, I tried Yoroi. It does not work for me either. Just keeps loading and displays ā€œWarning: Connection to the server failedā€.
