Rodrigo recently joined the ranks of Cardano Ambassadors. Many of you may already know him from Descentralización Total! podcast, where he has been co-hosting a twice-weekly podcast since March 2021, discussing the Cardano ecosystem and answering community questions live.
Alright, Let’s Dive Right In!
- Tell us a little about yourself. What is your background?
My name is Rodrigo. I was born and raised in Chile, South America. I’ve been practicing Kendo, a Japanese martial art, for two decades, which led me to study at a university in Japan, represent my country in international competitions, and build a huge international network of friends.
I’ve worked for over 10 years in the commercial side of business, from sales to coordinating a sales force across Latin America for a corporation. I’ve always been a big fan of technology and love learning new things.
- How did you get interested and involved with Blockchain/Crypto?
I remember hearing about Bitcoin many years ago, and when I decided to become a miner, I couldn’t afford an ASIC. So, I started mining ETH at a friend’s data center, which was my first hands-on experience with blockchain technology.
But it wasn’t until 2019 that I really started studying it, and it’s been a crazy, fascinating journey full of humbling learning experiences.
In 2019, I was laid off from my job and decided to do something online—something safe given the context but with the opportunity for growth. I did my research (Charles’ whiteboard videos and others) and came across Cardano, which had the ITN running at the time.
The technology caught my attention—it was built with security in mind, inheriting Bitcoin’s security model while increasing capacity through the EUTxO model. The robustness and safety of the system convinced me that Cardano was the right place to be.
- How are you contributing to the Cardano Ecosystem as an Ambassador?
I work for the Cardano ecosystem regardless of any title. I run infrastructure and love the experience, providing support services to delegators worldwide and creating a safe environment for learning the technology.
With Individuo Digital, we run a podcast twice a week since March 2021, where we discuss the Cardano ecosystem and answer community questions live. We’ve also produced a couple of small documentaries covering Cardano events in Latin America, entirely in Spanish.
I create content about Cardano for individuals and different types of organizations—enterprises, universities, and schools.
I actively engage in conversations about blockchain technology with universities in Chile and the government, helping foster awareness and adoption.
- What is your future vision for the Cardano Ecosystem?
I see Cardano becoming the security layer for many protocols, supporting a robust ecosystem where people and organizations from all over the world participate—sending, creating, and exchanging value. I envision a future where Cardano is seamlessly integrated into daily life, no longer seen as a niche technology but as something people use naturally without even thinking about it.
6. What is your personal message to the Cardano community?
My message to the Cardano community is simple: we need to stay focused, work together, and be brave.
Decentralization isn’t just an option—it’s something we have to actively defend and build. It requires effort, open discussions, and sometimes even engaging with perspectives we don’t fully agree with to find common ground. But that’s how real progress happens.
The time to act is now. Let’s push forward, stay committed, and make sure Cardano grows into the powerful, decentralized ecosystem we all believe in.
