I have a problem but I’m not sure what it is. I bought 2021 ADA and sent it to Yoroi together with my ledger. They were always there. Now I wanted to log in again after a long time and realized that I don’t see them any more. When I did some research, I realized that they are probably on a staking address but are not staked anywhere. So how do I get them back to my address so that I can pay them out?
The Adresse i am talking about is: addr1qx0eap4uh6ljflcx204pf7u3jqsmhcnkfk94mnmftfr9gh4s07t2sk0vvt77j2uu6z8d82q49uaymsas3qq7qr5vmenqzqprqt and the Staking Adress is: stake1uxc8l94gt8kx9l0f9wwdprkn4q2j7wjdcwcgsq0qp6xduesuwsr4s
I would recommand to use Typhon (if you are at a computer) or Eternl/Vespr (if you are on mobile) and then add a new wallet there and connect it with your Ledger. You should see your funds there if you didnt reset your Ledger device.
While “Just use another wallet app!” often helps, some explanations:
No, that is not how Cardano works at all. ADA cannot be moved onto a stake address. Rewards (and some other things like returned deposits for stake pools and governance actions) do arrive on stake addresses, but ADA are never transferred from usual addresses to stake addresses.
What explorers usually show at the stake address is the sum of these rewards et al. and all “normal” addresses that belong to this stake address. That is everything that would count as stake if you choose to delegate to a stake pool.
In your case, your ADA just are on a different address (belonging to the same stake address, belonging to your wallet/account): https://adastat.net/addresses/addr1qyvgp3fhgzq8ymswdu0874vthef6ve5xfqe885tt5ek7qdds07t2sk0vvt77j2uu6z8d82q49uaymsas3qq7qr5vmenqecx48l
Yoroi now probably shows you the other one as receive address because it is one of the last wallet apps still using multi-address/HD mode. It tries to use a new and unused address for every transaction. (You can still always reuse the same address many times for receiving. Makes no problems at all. But Yoroi itself will show you new ones and use new ones for the change when it creates transactions.)
This explains why you see a 0 on that address in the explorer, but it doesn’t explain why Yoroi doesn’t show you anything. It should scan all addresses of your wallet. Could be a problem of Yoroi synchronising information from the chain. Wouldn’t be the first time.
So, still a good idea to just try one or more of the other wallet apps.
Many thanks for all the explanations but unfortunately it does not work. Every time I reconnect my ledger to a wallet, it tells me that it wants to export 5 keys, which I then confirm. In the Typhon wallet I also get 5 accounts displayed but none of these accounts shows the address on which the ADA is apparently located or the balance of all the accounts is 0. Do you have another idea?
No, I have never intentionally reset my ledger. I’ve only done the normal updates. As far as I remember, I didn’t get a passpharse from Yoroi, which is why this problem occurred in the first place.
I remember that on the PC where I installed Yoroi for the first time, I always saw the ADAs but now on a new PC but the same ledger not. They are obviously there, but I don’t know how to access them.
Well to be honest this sounds like you created a hot wallet back then (thus you should have a seedphrase from that). As you never withdraw any ADA we cant be 100% sure that you really used the right keypairs from your Ledger…
But if you didnt reset/restore your Ledger and now you cant access them with that, then you didnt use the Ledger at all.
I see… but I have a special place for all my phrases etc. and I’m pretty sure that if I had gotten one, I would have put it there. The only hope I have now is that I can check my old PC to see if I’m still logged into the wallet? The only passphrase I’ve ever gotten is from my ledger.
What do you mean by 25? I chose 24 for my ledger and created an extra word if that’s what you mean?
"You actually have two options for setting up a Passphrase with Ledger. The first is entering it into your device every single time you want to use your passphrase. We refer to this as the “Set temporary passphrase” option. With this, once your Ledger device is turned off it will grant access to your regular accounts again.
Another option is to link a passphrase of your choosing to a secondary PIN code. When choosing this option, you would first create a passphrase directly on your Ledger device. After having done so, you will be able to choose a secondary PIN code for your Ledger device. After this, each time you turn on your device, you can choose between entering your normal PIN code or your secondary PIN code. If you would enter your secondary PIN code, your accounts hidden behind a passphrase will be accessible.
