Catalyst Weekly #108 - 4 days left for general submissions

Hey there, beautiful soul!

Another week has zipped by, and over 200 unique submissions have poured into Fund13. Are you among them? High five! If you haven’t jumped in yet and don’t know where to start, grab all the essential info from the latest Fund13 launch guide.

Keep in mind, there are two key initial deadlines ahead of us for submitting proposals:

  • General Categories: Oct 10 (11AM UTC)
  • Partners Categories: Nov 7 (end of day UTC)

What’s the buzz this week? Our team is gearing up for the Community Review stage. Stay tuned for the registration announcement. The big upgrade? We’re addressing community feedback by requiring identity verification for Community Reviewers. This move aims to curb spammy bot accounts and spotlight the genuine efforts of hardworking contributors. Expect clearer communication and better moderation feedback—less noise, more clarity.

Also - wallet updates are almost complete, unlocking a 25 ADA voting power threshold. With testing in its final stages, we’re gearing up for voter registrations next week. If you haven’t joined yet, we hope you’ll be part of this exciting journey!

For everything else, let’s dive in!

Saying hello from Japan!

In this talk at the ‘Rooted in Research: Pushing the Boundaries of Blockchain Technology’ event in Tokyo, Kriss Baird, general manager of Project Catalyst, reflects on four years of community-driven innovation, highlighting the impact of over 1,800 funded projects and $100m in distributed funding. Kriss explores a diverse range of initiatives, from blockchain infrastructure to decentralized identity solutions, and announces the upcoming Fund13, which will bring new opportunities, including an expanded $20m category for real-world integrations.

Voting power threshold lowered by 95%

Have you noticed the game-changing shift in Catalyst’s voting parameters? Historically, the program has pushed its technical capabilities to their limits with each adjustment. But now, technology has caught up, allowing a dramatic reduction in the voting power threshold.

Here’s the big news: In Fund13, you only need 25 ADA to register to vote.

That’s a whopping 95% drop from the previous 450 ADA requirement. Stay tuned for registration announcements and watch for updates from your favorite wallet as they integrate this major change. The team is working hard with wallets to ensure a smooth transition.
