Is anyone having issues installing the current version of Daedalus on their Windows 10 PC. My HP computer began crashing overnight a few weeks ago. I was able to restart it and eventually Daedalus would resynch with the blockchain, but last week, the computer crashed and went to the “Blue Screen of Death” when I attempted to restart. I took it into local repair shop and they got it up and running again [for $150] and I reinstalled the most current (as of 28 Feb 2025) version of Daedalus. The blockchain synch was taking more than 24 hours and got to about 66% and it crashed to the Blue Screen again. The labor is warrantied for 30 days, but the question is: Is the problem in the computer hardware (which the tech said checks out fine) or is there something in the current version of Daedalus that is causing the crash?
Should I just scrap the HP which is running 32GB ram and new 512 GB hard drive and power supply in Dec, 2023, or have the shop repair it again?
You can simply use a litewallet, where you dont have to sync the whole blockchain.
If you are using a hardware wallet, you even have the same security and even if you dont, i would argue that a litewallet isnt less secure than Daedalus.
You can use your seedphrase (if you arent using a hardware wallet) to restore your keys in a litewallet like Typhon or Eternl. If you do use a hardware wallet, you can simply connect your hardware wallet with the litewallet and export the public keys.
So, I bought a refurbished Dell… still took nearly a week to reinstall Daedalus…part of the problem was sluggish bandwidth and blizzard power outage. Now using Lace, as well.
