One thing I’ve found with Daedalus when it doesn’t connect or sync is that a previous instance of Jormungandr has got stuck.

Solution is to

  1. quit Daedalus
  2. open the Activity Monitor application (in Applications/Utilities)
  3. in Activity Monitor search for Jormungandr
  4. select Jormungandr and then kill the process by clicking the X button on top left
  5. start Daedalus again
