I am new to Crypto and just downloaded Daedalus. It is taking forever to sync with the blockchain; more than 12 hours.
Is this usual or am I doing something wrong?

There are several factors that can influence the speed but you only have to download the whole blockchain once. After that you just have to download the missing part again 
As long as it continues I would just wait and see.
