Hello Really Helpful People,
I had a Nano S fail on me - just would not power up at all - so I restored it on a new Ledger Nano S, and the correct balance shows up on Ledger Live when connected. But when I went to do a simple test transaction through a Yoroi wallet I got a pink Transaction Error / Incorrect Device Detected… message. I believe this is set up as a hardware wallet, as I don’t seem to have any Yoroi generated seed phrase, so my first thought is to install Yoroi extension on another computer and see if I can restore wallet from ledger there unless there is a simpler solution.
I think Yoroi not only remembers that it has to be a Ledger with the correct seed phrase, but that specific hardware device. And you now have a new, different one, albeit with the same wallet on it.
Simpler would probably be to just delete the wallet and connect the new Ledger to the same Yoroi on the same computer as a new wallet.

Thanks HS, my concern is that perhaps this was setup as a software wallet when moving over from an older Daedalus wallet? and deleting it without a 100% sure seed phrase would cause trouble.
But it says “Incorrect Device Detected”. That wouldn’t make sense for a software wallet.
Anyway, if you have easy access to another computer, it’s also possible to connect there. Or just in another browser on the same computer. Or in another browser profile in the same browser. Whatever you deem has the best hassle/risk quota.

Ah, yes, you are right and that’s what I thought but not 100% sure of myself.
That said, a new mystery popped up. I added the Yoroi extension to another computer that has never had anything crypto related connected to it - without even being signed into google - and yet when I opened the Yoroi extension it was already showing the same balance / staking info as my other computer.
Seems only possible if you either already installed Yoroi and paired the Ledger earlier or if something™ is syncing your browser profile across devices (which can be independent of being logged into your Google account).

One would think that. I’m going to delete all data etc and try again. Thanks for your help. I believe you are right and just reinstalling Yoroi and restoring as a hardware wallet will work.
OK, easily restored on new computer. Thanks for your patient help.
