With a focus on inclusivity and adaptability, there will be collaboration with Intersect to curate diverse topics and formats for each meeting, ensuring relevance to the global/ MENA Cardano community. Through thoughtful and creative approaches, the project will be making participation in Cardano governance and interaction with Intersect accessible to individuals worldwide. Rami : Hello Mena Community,

I hope everything is fine and everyone is doing well in this bull market. Everything is looking great; we’re seeing everything through rose-colored glasses these days! Welcome to the November Intersect Mena Town Hall Update. First, a quick disclaimer: this is a recorded meeting, and I’ll be posting it on YouTube so anyone can watch it later. Let’s begin by sharing the screen. Do you see my screen now? Great, thank you. Welcome to the November 2024 Intersect Mana Town Hall Update! Today, we’ll be discussing the agenda briefly—just 15 minutes as usual. We’ll cover the Chang Hard Fork update, the Cardano Constitution, delegated representatives, committees and working groups, open-source membership, community hubs, governance tooling, and important resources.

To begin, the Intersect Hard Fork working group has proposed naming the next Cardano Hard Fork “Plomin Hard Fork” in memory of Cardano community contributor Matthew Plowman. The Chang Hard Fork, a two-part upgrade, was named after Phil Chang, who sadly passed away in 2022. Intersect has raised a governance information action for the Cardano community to consider, which you can review through CardanoScan, CF Explorer, or the governance action links. Regarding the Cardano Constitution, the latest draft was released post-workshop on November 16. It remains a work in progress, with input from 1,400 community members and 126 delegates contributing to discussions on language, principles, and alternative proposals. The next steps include an off-chain vote requiring 51% delegate approval, followed by an on-chain vote needing 75% delegate approval and a two-thirds majority from the Interim Constitutional Committee. For delegated representatives, weekly meetings provide an open space for collaboration and discussion, clarifying the budget approval process and gathering feedback. You’re welcome to join through the provided links. October 2024 marked a historic moment with the first full-scale elections for committees and the governing board. Each committee has since elected its chair. Updates on these committees include their continuous work on the Constitution phase, open AMA sessions, and planning processes, all of which benefit from active participation. There has also been a rebranding: Cardano Development Foundation is now Cardano Development Holdings, which works administratively with Intersect. Updates from the product committee, technical steering committee, and parameter subcommittees include new goals, roadmap progress, and applications for skilled professionals in governance, economics, security, and networking. In terms of open-source developments, highlights include participation in the Linux Foundation Summit and discussions on community-driven project support. Membership and community updates show growth, with over 4,252 total contacts and 44 enterprise members. Active community hubs like Japan and Sri Lanka continue to thrive, organizing events and educating others about Cardano. Governance tooling improvements, including updated DB sync systems, CIP compliance, and better usability for governance tools, are also underway. The latest governance metrics and resources are available for review, including links to documentation, guides, and committee tools.

Finally, the Intersect YouTube channel shares fresh content, including interviews with industry leaders discussing the future of decentralized technologies. The next Intersect Town Hall will take place soon, and all related links and slides are accessible for those interested. Thank you for attending, and I appreciate your participation. Let’s keep the momentum going and ensure we all profit and grow together. Have a great Saturday evening, and see you in the next call. Goodbye, everyone!

Franklin: I wanted to ask some questions.

Rami : Sure go ahead !

Franklin : Pleasure being here this evening. I think I’ve been in the group for about two years now. I joined after a Meetup held in Dubai two years ago. I’ve been following up but haven’t joined any of the calls until now. I want to appreciate the efforts you’re putting in to ensure these meetings happen. My name is Franklin. I lead a group of Cardano enthusiasts in Africa. We’ve hosted a series of events in East Africa—places like Rwanda and Uganda—and in West Africa, such as Ghana and Nigeria. Our goal has been to educate people about Cardano. What we’re looking for is how to potentially partner with industry players in the Cardano ecosystem. How can we connect with players who might partner with us to expand our mission of educating more people in Africa about Cardano? We currently have about 4,000 community members.

Chris: Wow, that’s amazing! Franklin, are you part of the MENA WhatsApp group?

Franklin: Yes, I am.

Chris: Great! That’s a good forum to reach out to others who are building on Cardano. You can connect with people directly there. Another tool you might already know about is Project Catalyst. It’s a great platform to find like-minded individuals who are building and might be looking for collaborations.

Franklin: Yes, thank you. I’ll start with the WhatsApp group and explore Project Catalyst as well. We applied in the previous Catalyst round but didn’t make it. Unfortunately, we missed out on the current one, but we’re definitely planning to apply for the next one. One of our biggest achievements this year was onboarding over 3,000 people onto Vesper wallets. Most of them didn’t even know about tools like Vesper, Taptools, or Dex Hunter. We did a lot of educational work around that. If there are upcoming or existing projects looking to expand into Africa, I’d be very excited to partner with them.

Rami : First of all, Franklin, it’s inspiring to hear about the amazing work you’ve been doing for the community. I’m sure many projects are also looking to expand, and I have no doubt you’ll find great collaborations.

Franklin: Thank you so much! I appreciate the support and look forward to the next call.

Rami : Franklin, thank you again for being here and for sharing your story. Don’t hesitate to reach out—just send us a message. The Cardano community is very open to collaborations and incredibly supportive. Chris, thank you as well for your input. It’s been great having you both here. Cheers to all the hard work you’ve been doing, Franklin. Take care, and see you soon!

Franklin: Thank you, everyone! Bye!

Chris: Bye, have a great day!

Rami: Bye-bye!
