Intersect October Update - Mena Townhall

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing well and enjoyed the Cardano Summit 2024 in Dubai. I’m speaking to you today from Greece for the Mena October Intersect Update 2024. It’s the first time we’re holding this meeting on a weekday, so attendance might be a bit lighter. But as always, it’s open to everyone.

Quick Disclaimer: This call will be recorded. It’s a simple PowerPoint presentation summarizing recent developments at Intersect, and I’ll share my screen in just a moment. After the meeting, I’ll post this on YouTube for anyone who wants to watch later.

Intersect Board and Committee Elections
The results of the recent board and committee elections are in! We had 574 unique voters, resulting in a 37% participation rate. Emails have been sent to all candidates, and the official announcement is up on the member portal. Full results, including the vote counts, can be viewed on the Intersect knowledge base, and the D Quadrant audit results link is available as well.

Cardano Summit 2024
Organized by the Cardano Foundation, the summit brought together blockchain experts and enthusiasts from around the world. Jack Briggs, our Intersect ecosystem director, looked ahead to 2025 and celebrated our recent committee and board elections, alongside Intersect members like Lloyd Duhan, Einin Est, Stein Magnus Hansen, Sarah Yun, and Adam Dean.

2025 Budget Survey
We’re beginning the process of drafting Cardano’s first annual budget and would like your input. We have a survey to gather insights and ensure a transparent, inclusive process, so please share your thoughts through the provided link.

Annual Members Meeting in Texas
The meeting kicked off with a constitutional workshop and was attended by 30 members. Jack Briggs delivered the keynote, and we’ve got a few photos to share from the event.

Upcoming Discussions on the 11 Blockchain Tenets
On October 13th, Intersect will host a session with Charles Hoskinson and Chief Scientist Aggelos Kiayias to discuss the recently published “11 Blockchain Tenets.” All details and links to join are provided.

Chang Hard Fork #2
The Chang working group now meets twice weekly to coordinate updates to Plutus primitives ahead of the upcoming hard fork. Community support and engagement are vital, and we encourage everyone to stay informed through the official governance channels.

Community Hubs and Grants
Recent events were held by our Japan, Africa, and Sri Lanka hubs, each with a good turnout. In addition, 138 grants have been awarded across 61 countries, totaling over $3.7 million in support.

Upcoming Intersect Town Halls
Intersect town halls take place every fourth week of the month, with planning sessions in the first two weeks. These events are open to everyone, and we encourage all members to join and contribute.
