Ledger Live and Yoroi Wallet

Hi!

I’ve tried to delegate my ADA in a stake pool through my Yoroi Wallet. I’ve tried it 5 times more or less. I think I couldn’t because I’d opened Ledger Live.
Now I’ve closed Ledger Live and the issue continues. I can’t confirm the transaction neither to delegate or to send.
What to do?. Do you think Emurgo support can solve the issue?. Have I lost my ADA?

You surely haven’t lost your ADA just because of that. Staking does not send your ADA anywhere on Cardano and you say that it did not even work, so nothing happened.

Can you describe in more detail what did not work. Does Yoroi say that it cannot communicate with the Ledger? Does the Ledger something is not right?

Completely removing the Ledger from Yoroi (or even uninstalling and reinstalling Yoroi) and pairing the Ledger again could also be worth a try.

Did you update the Ledger to the latest version of the Cardano app that came out a few days ago? Maybe Yoroi has problems with that?

You could also just delegate from Ledger Live. Or use a completely different wallet app.

Hi HeptaSen,

Thanks for your answer.

Yoroi didn’t say me that it cannot communicate with the Ledger. They said me they are trying to solve the issue and they will keep me posted on the progress.

I think the Ledger is right. Now I connect my Ledger to My Legder in Ledger Live and it recongnizes it immediately. The Ledger Live asks me to allow to the manager in my device.

Did you say to uninstall and reinstall Yoroi?. Is it not better to replace the hardware and to begin with the recovery words?.

I’ve updated my Ledger to the latest version of the Cardano app. I do it always.

I thougt to send my ADA to an exchange or to another wallet to solve the problem. I can’t do it.

I can’t confirm any transactions in my device.

What to do?.

What does it mean Expert mode disabled or enabled?. If I use Expert mode enabled can I loose my ADA?

Yoroi, the software, not Yoroi, the support desk of the company.

How exactly does it not work? You have to be able to explain more concretely at what point it’s not working.

If you think that the Ledger is okay, why do you think that it would be necessary to replace and restore it?

I would first try to just delete the wallet and start anew by pairing the Ledger. Just trying to trouble shoot. If I remember correctly, Yoroi saves an identifier for hardware wallets and refuses to connect if that identifier is not exactly the same. Might have changed for some reason (update of Yoroi, update of Ledger, …).

You never have to send your ADA to use another wallet app. Wallet apps are just interfaces. Your ADA are neither in Yoroi nor on your Ledger. The Ledger “just” holds the keys to control them. If you just pair the Ledger with any other wallet app – Eternl, Lace, Typhon, Ledger Live, … – it will control exactly the same wallet with all your ADA and your delegation.

“Expert mode” on the Ledger just means that it will ask you a lot more details for each transaction that you confirm. No, it cannot lead to loss of ADA. Just leave it off.

Hi HeptaSean!

At the beginning when I’tried to connect my hardware in My Ledger I’d received a message: “Your device is locked. Unlock your Ledger Nano X and try it again”. I did it and I’d no problem. I understand I was in Ledger Live.
After, if I opened the Cardano app in my Ledger the message on the interface of Ledger Live was: “It seems one application is opened in your device. If you open My Ledger the app will be closed in your device”.

Now, I connect my Ledger Nano X to My Ledger in the Ledger Live interface and it asks me: “Allow a secure connection”. I allow it in my device and I think everything is right. Do you think the same?

I’ve tried to send or to delegate ADA. I can’t confirm the transaction in my device. For exemple when I try to send and I click the button send it doesn’t go on. Another exemple when I try to delegate I receive the next message: “It happened something unusual. Please, try it again”. That’s the issue I’ve. It’s what doesn’t work. I don’t know why?. Do you have any idea of what’s happening?

You may want to try another litewallet like Typhon or Eternl and try to send/delegate there.

You can simply connect your Ledger to one of these wallets.

Also make sure to close Ledger Live when you try to submit a transaction.

That is totally normal. If you open the My Ledger section, Ledger Live has the possibility to update firmware and apps. That possibility has to be confirmed on the hardware device to ensure that no other program could do that without you noticing.

As said multiple times by multiple people: Just try to connect to another wallet app. Or try to do it in Ledger Live. Or try to remove from Yoroi and pair again. Have you done any of that?

Hi HeptaSean!

Not yet. I gonna to wait the aswer of the support desk of Yoroi.

You mean I can use the Ledger Live or another wallet app though my ADA appears in theYoroi wallet. Is it correct?.

It’s not necessary to restore or to replace the Ledger?.

I’ll say you something the next days.

Thanks Zyroxa,

Do you prefer Ledger Live or a litewallet like Typhon or Eternl?

I definitly prefer to use Typhon over Ledger Live when it comes to Cardano. Imo Ledger Live has a really bad UX. But it does work aswell.

sure up to you. Feel free to ask any question if you dont get the help from Emurgo and please ignore/report any incoming DM’s. They are all scams.

Be careful of scams etc. No one will ever need your seed phrase. Never ever. They never need you to install some support software. Never ever.

Thanks jeremyisme.

If I decide restore or replace my Ledger with a new Ledger device to recover the control of my ADA I’d use my seed phrase. Is that correct?. Is it dangerous?

Yep, you can recover to a new ledger device (just buy direct from ledger). Follow their instructions and you’ll recover the ledger.

You should be able to see your Cardano wallet in the Ledger Live app and see your balance, transactions etc. you just can’t delegate. So you can verify that you still have your ada in the Ledger Live app (just to put your mind at ease).

Hi jeremyisme,

OK. I gonna to wait the support desk of Yoroi. I’ll say you something the next days with the answer of Emurgo.

Hello, sorry I didn’t see this sooner. Right now there’s a connection issue with Ledger’s new update and Yoroi. If you recently updated your Ledger, this is the cause. We are pushing an update promptly to fix this. Apologies for the inconvenience. We will resolve this.

Hello William,

Thanks for your answer.
I update always: Ledger Live, the firmware and the crypto apps; to avoid issues.
I had not notice and I tried to work with Ledger Live opened and Yoroi at the same time.
We’ll be in contact. Please, say me something when you can.

Yes, so in this case, the problem is 100% not your fault and nothing to worry about. It was their new update that broke the connection, and we’re working on the fix immediately. Apologies for the inconvenience.
