Hello
Quick question related to the recovery passwords for my old Daedalus Wallet (12 words).
I had my old wallet on 3 different Mac computers. (one now destroyed and the other two mirror one another) *Am I correct in that I would have had to use my recovery passwords for each Daedalus wallet I created?
Reason I’m asking is I don’t believe that I wrote my recovery passwords down wrong. I am having the same trouble as others in that I bought back in 2018 and haven’t looked at it since. Now my wallet doesn’t work, I can’t use the restore feature, I’ve contacted customer support and ran everything they asked and am now being told to wait for the import feature. Says my recovery password is wrong. adalite.io says same thing.
I am worried about the import feature because I can’t find my secret.key file either. Super frustrating!
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Yes. I initially installed the wallet on two computers and later added another. I believe I had to use my recovery phrase to make sure it was the same. Am I correct in my thinking? It was a while ago.
That’s why I asked, because on last 2 computers I believe u used the restore wallet option + seed words in order to install the same wallet… right?
That means ur seed words should be fine
; how many words has ur seed ? And when did u installed the wallet on the 3rd device, can u approximate the time?

It’s a 12 word seed. Not sure when I added to the third computer but it wasn’t long after the initial install. To give insight…My current laptop, I haven’t made any changes to the old wallet (that I remember) and my desktop I updated to mainnet version.
I believe the old version of the wallet is the same between my two current computers.
I agree my seed words should be fine but it shows invalid when I enter them in various locations (Recovery, adalite, yoroi)
Thank you again for your time
And u didn’t migrate your ADA from byron wallet to a shelley wallet right?

I have the same issue. My old recovery phrase is rejected. I did everything the support asked and still cannot access my ada. Is there any other way to recover ada? I did not migrate to Shelley before. Is there any way to proceed?

No. I haven’t been able to do anything.
Both computers version…0.13.1#3.0.1.5130
Ok, can u install the latest version of daedalus on one pc? Or other pc?

I do have daedalus mainnet 3.2.0#16053 on my desktop with a byron wallet loaded. Not able to add new wallet and restore.
What do u mean? U don’t have the options create /restore active?

Sorry for the confusion. create and restore are active. When I go to restore, daedalus wallet…says incorrect passwords. I did create a New byron wallet at some point. zero balance and has nothing to do with my old wallet.
So, u have 12 words and after u insert them when u try to restore it’s say that there are not correct?
Then perhaps u have another seed words somewhere… u should check
We can exclude u wrote a wrong seed because u already restored on other 2 devices in the past…

It’s not going to hurt to double check places but I’m pretty confident these are my only seed words. What I (also) don’t understand is why my secret.key file can’t be found either. Maybe something happened to it when I downloaded the newer version on my desktop. But shouldn’t it remain on my laptop? My understanding is without that I won’t be able to import when that option becomes available.
On laptop did u not performed any updates right? What OS it has?
Salvage/save secret.key file from the previously used Daedalus installation by copying it to a safe location. This file can be found in the state directory:
Windows : C:\Users[your user name]\AppData\Daedalus\Secrets-1.0\secret.key
macOS : ~/Library/Application Support/Daedalus/Secrets-1.0/secret.key
Linux : ~/.local/share/Daedalus/mainnet/Secrets/secret.key

Yeah, now that you ask, pretty sure there was some updates and even a total reboot because it wasn’t running properly (in the last 1.5 yrs). I’ve checked the directory you shared on both computers and it’s not there. Currently running macOS Big Sur 11.2.
I’ve checked the areas I usually back things up to as well and I don’t see it.
Having (what I think is) the original installer package wouldn’t help me any, would it? daedalus-0.11.2-cardano-sl-1.3.2-mainnet-macros-3541.pkg I did find that in my trash date Nov. 29, 2018
I don’t know… I am trying to find where the files are stored
Thank you again for trying to help with this
