What is the best way to test wallet restore?

I would like the comfort of knowing that I can restore my wallet if needed, so would like to test doing so.

If I create a wallet (e.g. on a different computer), and do the restore there, what happens to the original wallet? I’m assuming that the transactions will “move” from the original and the balance will show as zero; is that right?

Is there a less invasive or better way to test that the recovery phrase is correct and works?

Is there some way to just validate the recovery phrase, without doing the actual recovery?

Thanks.

No, wallets don’t affect each other, your coins are on the blockchain and the wallet is just a way of interacting with that. Restoring the wallet on another machine is a great way of testing recovery.
