Windows10: Daedalus 2.2.0 Sync = 0.00%

Hi everybody!

I am the only one having a Daedalus wallet that will not Sync at at all? (And never would).

At my Win10 computer, I have installed the Daedalus-wallet a few weeks ago - and even upgraded it to the newer Daedalus ver 2.2, but no matter what I do, I have never seen any sync action raise higher than 0.00 %.

If I enter the Daedalus-app and Ctrl+D, I can see that:

DAEDALUS STATUS
Cardano Network: Mainnet
Connected: YES
Synced: NO
Sync percentage 0.00 %
Last Network block epoch X slot X
Last synchronized block epoch X slot X
Local Time difference -156,323 us
System time correct YES
System time ignored NO
Checking System Time NO

CARDANO NODE STATUS
Cardano node state Running
Cardano node responding YES
Cardano node time correct YES
Cardano node syncing YES
Cardano node in sync NO

Then - a few minutes later - it gives up, and the result is:

DAEDALUS STATUS
Cardano Network: Mainnet
Connected: NO
Synced: NO
Sync percentage 0.00 %
Last Network block epoch X slot X
Last synchronized block epoch X slot X
Local Time difference -163,136 us
System time correct YES
System time ignored NO
Checking System Time NO

CARDANO NODE STATUS
Cardano node state Running
Cardano node responding YES
Cardano node time correct Yes
Cardano node syncing NO
Cardano node in sync NO

The fundamental question is of course: What is wrong?
Is my Daedalus-wallet “sick” - at client level?
Or is it some “target server” at the other end - perhaps another client in the Cardano topology
failing acting as a “Relay-server”, thereby effectively preventing me from joining the “Society”?
Or could it be the network-in-between?

By googling around, I can see that previously some have experienced sync-troubles if the max allowed time-difference was too tight.
And DNS could prevent communication.
Also in older versions it was necessary to be able to TCP at port 3000.
Don’t know if this is still needed in in Daedalus ver 2.2.0?
Or (wild guess) could it be that I need to manually set some Windows path environment variables?

I’ll welcome any suggestions how to approach this error in a structured manner?

PS: The good part is, that my ADA are elsewhere. No “potentially lost” ADA here.

Best wishes

To check if it’s the clock issue, right click the clock in the task bar and go to change date/time and then click synch clock with internet or sth. similar.

Another possibility could be your windows firewall. Maybe when you first ran daedalus you didn’t allow it to access your network?

First thank you very much for the suggestion!
Unfortunately the problem remains.

Yes - I remember the little window informing/suggesting me to allow public communication.
And “public” seemed to be the right choice, so I did accept that.
But yesterday I did enter the firewall.
I was surprised to see that I had five (5) entries named “cardano node”, all set to “public”.
Also I had one entriy named “Daedalus Mainnet” - also set to “public”.

I tried to add the “private” option to all entries, (perhaps this was a bad idea?)

Then I lowered all shields, disabled the Antivirus, restarted my computer and restarted the Daedalus App, but no change, except now the “Local time difference” had changed drastically
from -163,136 us to 1.657.614 us.
But still Sync remain = 0.00%

Then I did shut down the computer for some hours.
Turned it on again, and started Daedalus…
…and it crashed with an inital error message “Cardano node crashed”.
Restarted the Daedalus App - No error, but Sync never got higher than 0.00%

I decided to “undo” - by removing the Private network access again for all the entries, but during the process they began to multiply, so now I have about 26 entries named “cardano node”, and about
5 entries named “Daedalus Mainnet”.

I’m slowly beginning to understand how Mickey Mouse felt when he in “Fantasia” started chopping the water-bearing brooms over, realizing that they just transformed into cloned copies.

Maybe I should try deleting all the “Cardano Nodes” I don’t like (except one) and similarly with the redundant Daedalus Mainnet "?
I really don’t hope that I accidentally managed to hardfork the full Cardano Mainnet
thereby inadvertently creating some kind of Cardano-SV monster

Well, wonder whether this mess be corrected - or should I try to Uninstall/delete everything
Cardano-related - and then start from scratch?

Or - any good ideas?

The last point should be worth trying. Delete everything and manually check the Daedalus state directory. You’ll find it in Daedalus under Help -> Daedalus Diagnostics. Should look like that:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Daedalus Mainnet

Also don’t forget to resync your clock like I described before starting Daedalus.
