IOHK Blog: Explaining the Shelley Incentivized Testnet Incentive Model
On December 5th IOHK shared with us some important updates regarding the Shelley Incentivized Testnet. This Incentivized Testnet will allow you to earn real ada rewards for taking part. And it’s all down to the incentivized model. Find out how it works and how much of a reward you can expect right here in IOHK’s latest blog post.
IOHK has also been busy getting everything prepared for staking on the incentivized testnet. With that in mind, they have released a Stakepool operator guide containing key info about running a Cardano Shelley Stakepool. Interested in running a Stakepool on the Shelley Incentivized Testnet?
Three additional things to pay extra attention to:
- It is important to note that the amount of ada you are holding in your Daedalus or Yoroi wallet at the time of the main UTXO snapshot is the amount that can be used for staking and delegation on the incentivized testnet. You must ensure you have access to your seed words. You will need these and recover your balance details within a special Rewards wallet that has been created for the Shelley testnet.
- You do NOT need to send your ada anywhere or to anyone! Please beware of anyone claiming you need to send your ada to them for staking or delegation. This is not the case! Only a number value is captured in the snapshot and this is then used as the figure in your testnet wallet.
- DO NOT try to send your mainnet ada (the ada in your regular wallet) to the testnet or a testnet address. This is not possible, and if tried may lead to loss of funds.
The Cardano Foundation strengthens its Council with two new Members
ZUG, 4 DECEMBER 2019. The Cardano Foundation – in line with its goal to strengthen and diversify its highest supervisory body – has appointed Tamara Haasen and Nicolás Javier Arqueros Rojas as new Council Members, effective immediately. The latest addition comes as the Foundation set to assume more responsibilities ahead of the transfer of custody of Cardano and smart contracts rollout in 2020.
Tamara is the first woman to hold the post and Nicolás is the first South American national to become a Council Member. Together they will focus on advancing the Foundation’s mission.
AdaPay solution by Cardano Foundation and COTI is now live!
AdaPay solution – developed by the Cardano Foundation and COTI – is now live as of 28 November!
This solution allows merchants to accept payments in ada with a near-instant settlement into 35 different fiat currencies directly into their bank accounts. You can now start accepting ada for your business by joining COTIpay platform. For more details, please visit COTI’s website.
To help you visualize what an adaPay gateway can look like in action, COTI has created a demo COTI store where you can see how payment with ada might work in the wild.
Merchants who are interested in adaPay solution will not need to commit to a minimum monthly sales threshold. There is no limit for merchants with less than US$50,000 monthly revenue. However, the only eligibility criteria is that all new users should be active merchants (doing business already) with an online presence (webshop) and existing revenue flow.
