Charles Hoskinson's Meditation Practice

I feel so grateful to all of you in the Cardano community that make it possible to have a passionate discussion like this. And thanks to all the participants. There are places on earth right now where people are harmed for speaking their faith and there are other places on earth right now were people are harmed for opposing the dominant religion.

That we can freely exchange our views and share our feelings is what makes Cardano a living ecosystem as opposed to a working machine. It matters because living ecosystems reverse entropy whereas machines increase entropy. Clocks wind down and eventually stop working (heat death) as centralized energy in the mainspring is dissipated with each tick of the clock. A living ecosystem has no centralized store of energy but rather a constant exchange of energy between community members. This makes it possible to use energy much more efficiently before it leaves the system.

Entropy applies to information too and it is information which controls how energy is used.
When information and ideas become centralized and stop moving then the ecosystem becomes nothing more than a machine. Eventually the machine loses it’s central store of energy and heat death occurs.

We could have governments or religions filled with people of all economic classes, levels of education, ethnicities, sexes, and orientations and call that diverse. But if everybody is thinking the same then there is no real diversity and the result will be heat death.

The Cardano community is about diversity that actually matters - diversity of thought.
This is what makes our community living, enduring, and beautiful.

“Why should you deny your loved one the pleasure of sexual encounter with others, if he or she is that way inclined?” - Prof. Richard Dawkins, from his essay “Banishing the Green Eyed monster”

and

"I had motives for not wanting the world to have meaning, consequently assumed it had none, and was able without any difficulty to find satisfying reasons for this assumption … The philosopher who finds no meaning in the world is not concerned exclusively with a problem in pure metaphysics; he is also concerned to prove there is no valid reason why he personally should not do as he wants to do . .

For myself, as no doubt for most of my contemporaries, the philosophy of meaninglessness was essentially an instrument of liberation.

The liberation we desired was simultaneously liberation from a certain political and economic system and liberation from a certain system of morality.

We objected to the morality because it interfered with our sexual freedom."— Aldous Huxley, “Confessions of a Professed Atheist,”

Report: Perspective on the
News, Vol. 3, June 1966, p. 19

Aldous Huxley was one of the most influential liberal writers of
the 20th century and Darwin’s closest friend and promoter, and brother of evolutionist Julian Huxley.

I’m not making any judgment or implying anything about you or anyone else here. Just want people to see how pride/self-righteousness, when manifested to its logical endpoint, looks like in reality.

Since brain health is required for clarity, and relaxation is required for brain health, the following video has content that all of us can use.
I have noted below some of the ideas presented in order to provide an overview of the video.
In this way community members can judge for themselves whether or not the video will be worth the time to watch. I would have liked to provided links in the notes with the video queued up with the ideas presented but the ideas all come up at various times in the video so that was not possible.

Alzheimer’s is largely a function of lifestyle
The function of index neurons in the hippocampus for helping us find memories
Neurogenesis in the hippocampus.
Rejuvenation in the hippocampus.
The importance of sleep for brain health and avoiding Alzheimer’s disease.
The importance of staying curious for brain health and avoiding Alzheimer’s disease.
How chronic stress kills index neurons.
How central authorities promote chronic stress via media and crisis creation to reduce a populations ability to think as individuals but rather just accept the central bank narratives.
How fear is used to overwrite real memories with the central bank narratives.
How imposed covid isolation harms the hippocampus
How exercise activates neurogenesis in the hippocampus
How social contact promotes brain health - oxytocin and neurogenesis
Unsocial distancing - depletion of oxytocin
Relationship of Depression and Alzheimer’s to lifestyle
Exposure to Fear mongering activates the autoimmune system to cause inflammation in the brain.
Fear hormones inhibit neurogenesis
Importance of meditation
Importance of vitamin D and trace lithium found in fish for brain health.

Getting indoctrinated by conspiracy bullshit that claims that tHeY are indoctrintating you is special form of irony for the dumbest and most gullible victims.

Sometimes when my feelings get hurt I find meditation is impossible.. In these emotional times I find that Wim Hof breathing gives me a complete reset. It only takes a few minutes. Afterward I can meditate normally or just go about my day. This technique can make you light headed so only do this in a safe place while sitting or lying down.

Wim Hof is an extreme athlete who has set many world records. He credits his success in large part to this breathing technique.

My understanding of how it works is that hyperventalation rids the body of CO2. This makes the blood alkaline and temporarily removes the urge to breath. During this time oxygen in the blood is depleted somewhat which stresses the body for a short time. This short therapeutic stress causes an increase in mitochondria, capillary growth and generally teaches the body to use oxygen better. Eventually CO2 builds up again during the long breath hold along with the urge to breath.

Wim Hof also popularized the ice bath which he also credits to his success. Charles is doing this according to his recent videos.

This exercises the tiny muscles which control the capillaries as blood flow is diverted towards the vital organs in order to keep them warm.

The benefit with regard to mental health (at least for me) is that is teaches the body to remain calm in a typical panic situation. So chronic stress is reduced.

The takeaway for me is that short term stress is very healthy but chronic stress is a killer.
