That would happen if Daedalus was running when you tried to install the update. Background processes might continue after you close the window. Best to restart the computer then run the install.
Same issue on my Mac.
I tried without upgrade Daedalus, failed. Then I downloaded the Version 0.11.1, failed again and again. Stoping at 97.24% and no moving forward.
I had to do a fresh install, sync, and recovery on a separate computer. I wanted to make sure it worked before wiping old install on other non working comp

Unfortunately I have done that several times and am still getting the same error message that the file cannot be written.
Try to save any file there, than you will see if this disk space is write-protected.
Have you been able to resolve the connection issue? It’s been almost a week since I’ve been able to connect to daedalus. Support is no help at all, only gives me the exact same instructions no matter how many times I tell them that it doesn’t work. I don’t know what to do and am getting desperate. I’m thinking about flying to Chainwise conference in February and try to get to Hoskinson personally since support is failing so miserable and I have way to much ADA to just walk away from.
First, there’s no way you’d ever have to “just walk away from” your ADA.
Second, you complain in this thread about two different issues, failure to install Daedalus and Daedalus failing to connect. You need to tell us which problem you’re having now, it can’t be both.
Third, this is not your thread, and it’s in the wrong place. You should start a new topic in https://forum.cardano.org/c/communitytechnicalsupport giving as much info as you can about your current problem.
I’m sorry you’re having these troubles but the way out of them is to be as calm and methodical as you can, and be willing to jump through some hoops. It’s obviously far from an ideal situation but this is how to regain access to your ADA.
I have had the same connection issue for about a week. I find it troubling that you have Inumerated more issues with and suggested more fixes to TusconAva’s posts than you have with resolving our problem…or being honest about what the problem is. You are expressing frustration, with TusconAva, or your inability to resolve the issue? Your reply to TuconAva is not at all helpful.
I have something to add that might narrow the possibilities of what is causing the problem. I have the identical connection issue with two iOS Macs. One Mac is years old with Daedelus installed 6 months ago. The other Mac is new this past week with Daedelus installed a week ago. Since both are having the same issue, both stalling at the same % sync, it would appear that the problem is not with the local installation, but rather at the remote system level. I don’t plan to do anything locally until there is some positive indication of resolution at the remote system.
It looks very much like you haven’t applied the latest update. Ensure Daedalus isn’t running, download and run the macOS installer from https://daedaluswallet.io/#download
No surprise that you want to tell me that I need to do something rather than admit or even investigate the problem on your end.

You obviously have no intent of helping, you just want to be rid of our silly comments. If you really wanted to help, you would have emailed me what the current version is rather than just assume I don’t have it. I hope are a troll and not actually associated with Cardano. You are doing Cardano a horrible disservice.

What do you mean by “and we are still running version 0.11.1 of Cardano.”? I see your shot of the latest version is “0.11.1#1.3.2”. When I follow RJF’s link to the download page, it tells me it will download 0.11.1
Another question: wouldn’t be good if Daedalus provided a “Check for update” menu item?
