Wallet Unable to Sync From China without VPN - Possible Chinese Cloud Solution for Exisiting IOHK Nodes?

Hi IOHK guys (@io_jeremy ),

I would like to represent Chinese users to raise an issue. A common problem we find in our Chinese telegram group (500+ ppl) is that Daedalus is unable to connect to network without VPN. I suspect this is due to the current IOHK nodes are hosting in a network that is banned by the Great Firewall of China. To verify that, perhaps test the current node’s public IP on a test website such as: https://www.greatfirewallofchina.org/

If this is the case, is it possible to have some full nodes running in cloud service such as AliCloud? I understand it’s not the easiest cloud provider to work with, but this will problems for hundreds of people and let them keep their ADA safe without having to wait until Q2.

Thank you!

Also maybe this can help:

Hi @bearbearbowl  i had a similar issue for wallet not syncing on windows in Egypt
but i got it fixed with opening it from the Daedalus.bat file, try it and let me know if it works  daedalus not syncing

I am running a fullnode and from the log, I can see my laptop is trying to sync form IP: 13.250.81.118:3000.

When I try to access the IP from within China, it’s unable to connect…

So my initial theory stands: Chinese users are not able to connect to the current IOHK nodes without VPN…

bummer

Yes, this is because of this so called

and you can by pass it with the help of VPN but, I suggest you to go with a better VPN and not some ordinary VPN as the likes of nord VPN, PureVPN, etc.
I have no issue working with AliCloud. I think it is a great host to work with. I loved their services perhaps it has the biggest market share in China. But, if you are still facing any issue then digitalOcean web server will be the best option for you as it also have a data center in the neighboring country of China which is India. So, it will be able to provide you fast speed hosting service.
