Web3 Comedy Roast - Cardano Meetup Feb 15th 2024

Cardano & Crosschain Meetup - “Web3 Is a Joke” Web3 Comedy Roast

On February 15th, DRMZ Web3, in collaboration with Cryptoheadz and Monas Comedy, proudly presented “Web3 Is a Joke,” a unique comedy roast that delved into the intricacies of web3 culture. Held in the vibrant heart of southern California, this event marked a strategic partnership aimed at bridging diverse communities within the cryptocurrency space. Cryptoheadz, known for their enthusiastic crypto-centric gatherings in Imperial Beach, California, have previously joined forces with us to introduce the Cardano ecosystem to their predominantly EVM-focused audience. In our quest to infuse humor into the web3 dialogue and foster local engagement, we reached out to Mona, the creative force behind “Web3 is a Joke.” This collaboration was born out of a shared vision to bring a fresh, comedic perspective to the web3 conversation in San Diego, connecting and expanding our community through laughter and insight.

Despite the entertainment-focused nature of our approach, “Web3 is a Joke” was designed with the primary purpose of demystifying the often complex world of web3 and blockchain technology through the universal language of comedy. This unique event aimed to foster a sense of community and collaboration among Cardano enthusiasts, newcomers to the blockchain space, and the broader web3 curious populace. The objectives were multifold:

  • To provide an engaging platform for networking and community building within the Cardano ecosystem.
  • To onboard new users to the Cardano blockchain by offering wallet support and NFT Ticketing experiences.
  • To educate attendees on the practical uses of blockchain technology in a fun and accessible manner.
  • To showcase the creative potential within the Cardano ecosystem through art and innovation.

Number of Attendees

The event successfully attracted a diverse crowd, with an official count of 51 attendees, many of whom created new Cardano wallets for our event. This number not only reflected the community’s interest and engagement but also demonstrated the growing curiosity and enthusiasm for understanding and participating in web3 and blockchain technologies, even amidst the challenges of a bear market.

Nucast Streaming

The inclusion of a live stream through Nucast collaboration expanded the event’s reach, inviting a global audience to join in the festivities and discussions, despite some audio challenges.

This innovative approach underscored the event’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, marking “Web3 is a Joke” as a significant step forward in community engagement within the web3 and blockchain spaces.

Educational Materials

To enhance our guests’ understanding and appreciation of web3 technologies, we crafted and shared educational materials aimed at simplifying the complex blockchain landscape. These resources provided a succinct overview of web3, with a focus on Cardano, and briefly explained the roles of Bitcoin and Ethereum as the pioneering generations of blockchain.

The content spanned from basic terminology to the distinct features of Cardano, including the critical function of its 3000+ stake pools in decentralizing and securing the network. We also explored the UTXO model versus traditional accounting, and offered practical insights into wallets, NFTs, and DEFI. This initiative was designed not just to entertain but to educate, offering attendees the tools and knowledge to confidently engage with the expanding world of blockchain technology.
