Cardano Marketing

@io_jeremy

Not professionally but am learning at a fever pitch about what goes into Dapps and how they are implemented and can be used in games and in other applications.
Browsing through ADA source code and read the white papers highly impressed and also not surprised at Ethers lack of ability to scale properly.

My mind is tingling thinking of all the new useful and fun uses for Dapps.
It has to scale tho and thats why Im here.

You guys are creating API’s to give developers access to the ada network right?
Good API’s are super important for quick adoption.

What I wanted in the short term are some solid articles on Dapp architecture patterns.

There is some stuff out there: https://github.com/ConsenSys/Ethereum-Development-Best-Practices/wiki/Dapp-Architecture-Designs

We need to get our community imagining what Dapps they want to build and how to build them.

First in marketing, who is your market? Is it industry, government, stock exchanges or “us”? It’s proba all the above, but each market very different.

I would love to see an official discord community, in terms of another marketing/community extension. I currently run an unofficial community server and we have about 450 members and we grow rapidly. I understand that it is hard to manage such communities, so perhaps you could do some sort of minor partnership to help expand the community’s impact on the platform.

Infografics and comparison tablet to Bitcoin and Ether

Wikipedia… Why it isn’t on Wikipedia yet

You know i just saw a tv ads on ico in Germany… It’s already mainstream i guess

You saw an ico commercial for Cardano in Germany? I found it unlikely. Maybe another project

This may not sound exactly like “marketing” but: I think a watered-down version of Ouroboros’s paper, i.e. shorter and without so many proofs, just to explain how this PoS works and how it compares to Bitcoin’s PoW, would be of great benefit both in a promotional and educational sense. I think Bitcoin’s paper, for instance, is a really good example of a very accessible computer science text.

Cardano’s marketing team should keep focusing on showing what makes Ada different to the rest of all the cryptocurrencies that are popping up today. The problem now in my opinion is that you can’t expect people to read hundreds of pages of scientific white papers, knowing the relevance of being published by the IACR, or how formal methods can help to prevent fiascos like The DAO. I think things like whycardano.com are great, but maybe more is needed.

Even internally the ouroborus presentations are the most popular, everyone is also looking for weaknesses. Thanks we should do a POS series. It would be nice to do a POS conference with all the other POS systems too.

Is it possible to do 2 series? Have one series that’s geared toward academics and another series for mainstream viewers.

At some point in the development of cardano you will have to reach the common men/women and only a small percentage will actually read the whitepaper. Everyone who is here now in this forum know a lot more than the typical bitcoin buyer.

The largest percentage of bitcoin buyers lately does not understand the technical truth about what they buy (all they know is that their investment makes them money) If you truly want to be be the next generation blockchain you will have to hype what you are building. And while we know the technical difference and why cardano has the solutions, the greater public does not actually know or care.

When the time is right. Do not be afraid to show the world why cardano is greater. Do not be afraid to hype an advanced system vs an outdated one. Do not be afraid… Because people follow people… Win hearths and minds of the big public when the time comes. Explain them why using cardano will benefit them… Explain them why they need to buy ADA with their btc when shit goes sour in crypto land.

Have no doubt about what we are trying to accomplish, we are the bridge, we are the future, we are cardano.

I agree on offering some shorter videos, great idea.

If the goal is to reach a broader audience … shorter, well produced, engaging videos would do well. That is, engaging to those who aren’t as knowledgeable of cryptocurrencies. And short enough for the average ADHD riddled, caffeine/adderall ingesting, social media addicted individual.

Perhaps a channel devoted to such videos – a Cardano specific channel, as opposed to an IOHK channel, would be an appropriate way to introduce these videos without compromising the content that has already been (and would continue to be) released on the IOHK channel. And it would be of benefit to release regularly, on a schedule.

I also think it would be of value to reach out to established Youtubers who cover cryptocurrencies, and engage them via remote interviews, and/or by inviting them to come and meet the team, to ask questions, and ultimately to show off, and discuss, Cardano with their subscriber base. There are a growing number of youtubers who people seem to trust, and look to for guidance as they enter the world of cryptocurrencies, usually with knowledge of bitcoin and nothing else.

Not cardano ico, some other project

Especially how does it differs with Dan Larimer’s dpos

From Charles, {a bunch of stuff said too quickly to capture}… Cardano is POS with delegation on top. They have forced delegation… :slight_smile:Hope this helps. We will be doing more education on the system in the future.

Agree. let’s see how ADA can handle games like Crypto Kitties.

Dear Jeremy, I would like to know some basic statistics of transactions per second as of the current Cardano network (may be premature since the current implementation is not fully Ouroboros, and according to the roadmap Cardano team will handle the performance issue at a later stage).

For the time being, Stellar/Ripple network seem to have the great capability for the (semi-)decentralized transactions. OTOH, I suspect EOS could deal with the transactions as they declaim in a secure way. So I really would like to keep track of Cardano’s results.

Or is it possible to provide some solid benchmarks (maybe much more difficult than for languages http://benchmarksgame.alioth.debian.org/) however it would be really nice

I understand the tps was limited to 7 per sec for the bootstrap era. There are several limits in place like this. I don’t think they released the lab tests because we are upgrading to praos spec.

I think you should ask for volunteers from this community , give them A specific designated task with strict parameters that would last around one hour within a week and set them loose. If even a hundred people volunteered that is 100free hours of man marketing for the week. And we would grow exponentially as more people become aware.

@bullishdong 100% correct , I think people within the community should each volunteer and do what you said for an hour of free work a week, imagine what we could achieve on the crypto and even mainstream forums like Twitter . These guys should have a co ordination that tells us what to do for our free hour of help as we are here and obviously believe!! Harness our power I say. Bring the mainstream on board. Get the buzz going, they already have the genius ! Even if me and you did an hour a week this week I reckon we could bring a few new people here …

Build the machine beautifully and hold an annual Ted talk and keep the white board lectures, they’re great.

Keep promoting education and academia with every side step you take and keep focused on making the world a better place.

… and yes, prove the strength of the system visually by making THE block chain game.

Grand theft Lovelace perhaps ? :scream_cat:
